About Francis
Please only apply for this greyhound if you have:
- Luv a good daily walk with a hound.
- Have ball throwing skills!
- Children over 8 years
'Ola ladies and gentlemen, I'm Francis. Don't be fooled by the bits of grey you see - this silver fox here has plenty of energy and luurrve to give!
My racing days are now over; back then I was known as 'My Name's Danny' and for some unfathomable reason, I am now called Francis. I was what you may call 'curvy' when I came to my foster home, but I have been working it off and getting fit again with my twice daily walks. I absolutely ADORE my walks and will remind you if you forget. My foster parents say that I am a fun-loving, gentle and friendly boy who walks very well on a lead. I am curious about things I find on my walks but will go wherever you lead. My foster dad says that I am the most polite and easy-going greyhound he has ever walked.
I am learning the art of socialisation - both of humans and dogs - I must say, I think the postman quite likes me already as he gives me a pat each day when I run out to greet him, thanks to my foster mum's online shopping hobby. I also love meeting new people on my walks. I am still learning to get along with other dogs but I am generally not fazed if they bark at me during my walks. As Taylor Swift says 'haters gonna hate'. I am still uncertain about little humans (kids) - I would prefer a home where the kids are over 8 years old.
There are many things that I love - playing with my toys (I am AMAZING at catching a ball, and the squeakier the toy the better!), sneaking toast off my foster dad's plate when he isn't looking and taking over the couch. OMG do I love the couch! I am quite happy being left alone for periods of time (as long as I get to stay on the couch) so I would suit full-time workers but prefer if you have hybrid working arrangements. I am also happy being a solo dog as it means I don't have to share the couch.
Oh, did I tell you that I can sit? I have mastered the art of sitting and looking cute for treats and pats. I am also 'learning' Spanish - my foster mum says it's good to be bilingual and calls me Francisco. Really, I just go along with it so that she gives me more treats!
Despite it all, I am a simple gentleman - 2 meals and 2 walks per day with pats and some play time in between is all I need to keep me happy. I am now looking for my forever home - would you have room for me?
[Note: Under Victorian Law greyhounds must be on-leash at all times in public areas, including in off-leash parks or ovals]
