Looking for the perfect addition to your family? Meet Chewie, a calm and happy French bulldog.
He likes to be near his foster family but also enjoys his own time in the yard and resting in his bed at the patio. His foster family is home most of the time however he has shown no signs of separation anxiety when they do go out for periods of time - he is reasonably independent.
Chewie loves to play: throw his toys and he will bring them back over and over again. He loves his pool and bath time.
Chewie can be shy at first but is very sweet once he gets to know everyone. Chewie has done well in busy social situations with lots of people around, impressing everyone with his politeness and good manners.
Chewie does have double hip dysplasia - this means he will require an adopter that can afford his long term medical treatment such as routine steroid injections and pain relief. He has also been assessed as a potential candidate for hip replacement - although this should not be necessary as long as his weight and pain are managed. He will need to go to a home where he is fed a good diet and kept at an appropriate weight. He also only does exercise appropriate for his condition - short walks, swimming - no long walks/runs and no strenuous exercise.
Chewie can be reactive towards other dogs - however we think this might be more of a defensive reaction due to his hips when his pain wasn't being properly managed before coming into care. He has mainly been a solo dog in foster care but has spent some time with other dogs and has been ok with a proper introduction.
If you’re looking for a loving dog who will be a great family companion, this is your boy. He's ready to meet you!
Chewie is $500 to adopt and comes desexed, microchipped, C5 vaccinated and given flea/worm/tick/heartworm prevention.
Medical notes
