About River
G'day from River, an affectionate, placid and super social black Labrador puppy born on 11 March 2024. On the day of his desexing (20 December 2024), he weighed 30 kgs so we expect he will be about 36 kgs at maturity.
With his classic Lab charm, River captures the hearts of everyone he meets. His sweet nature embodies the best of this beloved breed, making him a delightful addition to any home or family.
Friendly and engaging, River loves everyone and delights in being the instant best mate of children and adults alike.
River loves having canine mates - there are six at his foster home - and he plays well with them all, from the old Lab to the mini dachshund pup. He's fine with cats and shows no interest in the cattle, horses and chooks.
His big, soulful eyes will melt your heart and remind you just how wonderful life with a dog, especially a Lab puppy, can be.
True to his breed, River is an energetic youngster and revels in activities that engage both body and mind. Playing, walking, running, and swimming are right up his alley, but when he's worn out, he loves to cuddle or snooze in the sun. He particularly likes belly rubs!
River's foster mum, who is a Lab lover from way back, describes him as "just delightful—a beautiful young Lab in every way.” She says he has no behavioural flaws whatsoever and since his desexing, he's stopped marking his territory. "Don't be in a rush to rehome him," she pleads.
If you're searching for a loyal and joyful companion who's both child and dog-friendly, River might just be the pure Labrador joy you've been looking for.
River's wish list for a forever home includes:
- at least one compatible canine mate to play with,
- an active human family who have plenty of love and attention to give to River,
- access to inside the home so he can be an integral part of the family unit, and
- good fencing to keep him safe from harm.
