About Zeb
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Zeb (18kg)
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance from the pound
BREED: American Staffordshire Terrier x
BREED TRAITS: American Staffordshire Terriers are quite high energy, playful, affectionate and intelligent but do require training as they can be headstrong. They are very social with adults and children and are extremely loyal but can suffer from separation anxiety if left alone for long periods. Their sociability with dogs is a facet that needs work from an early age.
************************************************************************
ASSETS: Affectionate, easy going, devoted, friendly, obedient, active and very sweet! He is timid around new people initially but once he’s comfortable with you he’s an absolute darling.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Zeb is a very devoted boy and loves to be wherever you are while you’re going about your day. He loves to go out for a ride in the car, enjoys playing with other dogs and enjoys the beach and dog park. He’s also very affectionate and will happily snuggle up with you for a cuddle and snooze.
ENDEARING FEATURES: He has an absolutely beautiful nature and is generally a very laidback boy. He is a little quirky though and will put your arm in his mouth and is very gentle. He digs at water, runs away from the waves at the beach, loves eating ice, has a very funny run and gets into the car awkwardly.
OTHER ANIMALS: Zeb gets on well with other dogs and would love to live with another friendly dog in his new home. He hasn’t been tested with cats so we would prefer for him to go to a dog-only home.
GENERAL INFO: Zeb is still learning how to walk nicely on the lead so will need some training in his new home. He is housetrained and rarely barks but will bark at strange noises. If left for long periods he will chew things and can be a bit of an escape artist to try and find you, although he never goes far and usually lets himself back in, so will need good fencing at his new home. He is currently living with full time workers and finds that a bit challenging at times. He knows a few commands including sit and come, and if you say his name and follow up with a whistle he’ll come to you. His energy level is medium.
ESSENTIALS for Zeb:
** A loving, active home with someone who can be with him for a good part of the day or can take him with them when they go out.
** He will need daily exercise, playtime and mental activity. A home that is willing to involve him in daily activities is essential for him as he loves to be right where you are.
** Zeb needs a high fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things to sniff and explore.
** Zeb needs to be allowed inside the home when you are there and to sleep inside at night.
** Zeb has missed out on early training so would really benefit from training classes as he is a smart boy and loves to please.
Zeb has not been fostered with children and due to his slightly timid/shy nature we would prefer that he goes to an adult only home or possibly a home with dog-savvy teenagers who will understand his shyness and take things slowly. He would enjoy living with another dog or at the very least would like to have regular interactions with other friendly dogs.
If Zeb sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we’ll be in touch soon.
