About Denver
Introducing Denver 💙🐾
HOUSEHOLD- This smart boy has had some time and effort previously put into him with lovely manners that are hard to fault. He enjoys the big wide world open to socialising with people and fellow canines wherever he goes. He could suit a variety of lifestyles and at this stage, we would be recommending children to be 8 years and above due to himself being unaware of his own strength and size. He would love to be involved in everyday life and has previously lived indoors and out so house training should be a breeze.
ON-GOING TRAINING- Denver knows many tricks already including sit, shake, drop, stay and has good name recognition and recall responses. He enjoys training sessions and is food/attention motivated so we are hoping whoever adopts him will want to get involved in further training classes or maintain what he has already learnt to help keep him mentally stimulated.
PLAY/TOYS- Denver is keen to interact and play but like many of the dogs in our care is very easily distracted and more interested in sniffing and exploring when out and about.
OTHER DOGS- Denver is best rehomed as an only dog due to previously living with 2 other dogs prior to coming to us and it not working out. When outside of the home, he has shown himself to be social with other canine companions and always greets them with enthusiasm and the perfect helicopter tail. If he were to live with a canine friend then a meet and greet is a must to make sure that any new friends are suitable to live with him. Multiple meet and greets can be arranged and further details discussed at the time of adoption. While he has shown himself to be dog social at the facility we unfortunately cannot test for group dog settings such as a visit to the dog parks, beaches etc. If you were hoping to visit these places we would recommend postponing your trip till around 3mths post adoption until he has had time to settle in, build a strong bond with his new family and feel comfortable with his recall commands.
CATS/OTHER ANIMALS- At this stage, Denver is unfortunately not suitable to live with feline friends due to his defensive reaction when hissed at by our cats in the facility. On-going testing will occur and the profile updated as needed.
CARE/NUTRITION- Denver has a lovely short coat that will require basic maintenance to keep him feeling good. Weekly brushing, monthly bathing and monthly nail trims should do the trick. He has allowed all handling well and has been eating all his meals daily. He has shown no signs of fussiness or sensitivities and is being maintained on an adult dry and wet feed diet.
EXERCISE/ON LEAD- Denver enjoys his walks greatly and would appreciate 1-2 walks daily along with playtime and love in the backyard. He walks well on a lead of any length being responsive to verbal cues whilst out and only becoming pully when excited about meeting another dog or super good smell.
BREED- Staffy Mix DOB 13/9/21
