Meet Bat – A Loving Soul Looking for His Forever Home
Bat is a sweet, affectionate boy who has overcome a lot in his young life and is now ready for a family to call his own. Rescued from a council pound, Bat was clearly a victim of past abuse and came to us wary and fearful of people. Despite this, he has shown incredible resilience and has blossomed in foster care, revealing his gentle, playful and loving nature. His journey has been one of healing, and Bat is now looking for a calm and patient family who can continue to help him thrive. And if you haven't guessed yet, Bat was a name we gave him because of his massive bat-like ears!
Temperament
Bat is a velcro dog who loves nothing more than being by his humans’ side. He forms strong bonds and, once he trusts you, he will show you his true, cuddly self. He’s particularly fond of his foster dad and enjoys snuggling up for naps. He can be a little shy around new people and situations, but once he’s comfortable, his affection is boundless. Bat thrives in a calm, patient environment where he can continue to build his confidence.
Health and Training
Bat is in good health and has made remarkable progress in his training. He’s learned to sit on command and is working on his toilet training—he’s got the hang of going outside when prompted and is well on his way to mastering it. Bat can be a little cheeky at times, and while he may have the occasional chew on something he shouldn’t (watch out for the tv remote!), his foster carer is helping him redirect this behavior with chew toys. He is also working on walking calmly on a leash, though he needs a bit more practice. Bat has gained a healthy amount of weight and is in good condition. He loves his food and is learning to wait patiently for his meals. His cute stumpy tail wags happily when learning new things, as he loves to please!
Personality
Bat is a playful and energetic dog who enjoys zooming around the yard, especially on sunny days, and even loves a bit of water aerobics in a clam shell! He’s a curious, playful soul with a heart full of love, and he’s particularly bonded with his foster brother, Luther. Bat does well with other dogs, and he enjoys their company. However, he may be best suited to a home with another dog who is calm and confident, as this helps Bat feel secure.
Bat is still getting used to some things, such as being in a car or meeting strangers, but with his gentle nature and eagerness to please, he is continuing to grow more comfortable in these situations. Once he's in the car he likes to watch out the window and sits patiently in his seat.
Ideal Home
Bat would thrive in a loving, patient home where his humans are committed to continuing his training. He’s a sweet, playful dog who needs a calm, consistent environment and positive reinforcement. Bat would do best in a home with a 5ft or higher fence to keep him safe and children in the home should be aged 8 or older, as smaller children who may be unpredictable and noisy will frighten Bat. His loyal, affectionate nature makes him a perfect companion for someone who has time to spend with him and enjoys sharing love and play.
If you're looking for a sweet, loyal dog who will become your best friend and bring joy to your life, Bat might be the perfect fit! Apply to adopt him today.

NEED TRANSPORT?
1. Apply to adopt per the above process.
2. Get quotes and select your desired transporter. We recommend Aeropets, Jetpets, and Dogtainers. Contact us for weights, height etc where needed. We also recommend Pet Waggin pet transport who can assist with road transport.
3. Message or email us to say you have applied and that you will require transport. Tell us which company and a potential departure date from that pet's nearest airport or meet point.
4. If your application is successful, we will lock in a date with you, coordinate any required 'fit to fly' certifications, a food delivery to your home, and appropriate training to make your new pet as comfortable on transport as possible.
5. All adoption contracts, adoption fees, and photo ID must be submitted to us via email before animal boards transport.
We will take into consideration the pet's ability to travel safely and comfortably before agreeing to send them on transport, and expect a high level of care from whatever company is engaged to move the animal.
