Meet Lottie,
About: Lottie is a sweet and gentle girl. She is best suited for experienced dog owners who can provide her with the understanding and patience she needs. Lottie thrives in calm and quiet environments, as she is sensitive to noise and can become overwhelmed in loud settings.
Lottie may be a bit shy and timid at first, but once she feels comfortable, her true personality shines through! She is friendly, happy, and curious, always eager to explore her surroundings - she would also be a good choice for active people/families. Lottie is also playful and excitable, bringing a lovely energy to her interactions. Her affectionate nature means she loves to snuggle and be close to her humans, making her a wonderful choice for families. While Lottie can be boisterous during playtime, she also knows how to relax and enjoy some quiet moments. She is agreeable and social, making her a great addition to your home.
Ideal Home: Lottie is best suited to live in a standalone house or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large sized yard & high, secure fencing.
Lottie would love to spend time inside the home with her new family.
Family: Lottie is open to meet kids from 8 years & up - this is simply due to her timidity & lack of confidence in some environments. Once she warms up though, you'll be her friend for life.
Lottie would thrive in a home with people who work part-time hours.
Furry Friends: Lottie was a little tense during her dog assessment but after a beat, she found her confidence and was then able to interact & play with the other dog. Lottie would be fine to be around other dogs but her confidence needs to be built before she is comfortable to play.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Lottie would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Lottie would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. A pro trainer may also be a good idea to help her grow in confidence too as well as group classes to assist with her confidence around other dogs as well - she has the social skills - she just needs a little bit of help to get there.
Lottie is still learning her name but she knows how to 'sit'. Lottie is food motivated & will always take treats from you gently. Lottie rarely jumps up on people.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Lottie has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from walking, play or exercise, from 20-60mins per day to keep her happy. Lottie loves to play with toys, she loves soft toys.
Lottie walks well on a lead but we don't think she likes the lead that much, so she is best walked on a harness.
Staff Comments: Lottie would need a loving and patient family who can help her come out of her shell and a calm and quiet home environment. Lottie would love regular playtime and mental stimulation to keep her engaged & lots of affection and gentle encouragement!

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
