Meet Dennison,
About: Dennison is a gentle and soft-hearted boy in search of a loving home! Dennison is best suited for experienced owners who have a background in handling dogs with special behavioural needs. He thrives in a calm and quiet environment, as he is sensitive to loud noises and sudden movements.
Dennison is a nervous and shy boy who may take some time to warm up to new people and situations. However, once he overcomes his initial reservations, he transforms into a loving and affectionate dog who craves cuddles and companionship. His friendly and curious nature shines through as he becomes more comfortable in his surroundings. This smart boy knows what is expected of him, but he needs an understanding, kind, and patient owner who can help him navigate his anxieties and become the best version of himself. Dennison is alert and engaging, always eager to learn and bond with his humans. With the right support, he will flourish and bring immense love to your life.
Ideal Home: Dennison is best suited to live in a standalone house or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large sized yard & high, secure fencing.
Dennison would love to spend most time inside the home with his new family.
Family: Dennison is happy to meet children aged 15 years and older. This is because of his timidity - older children are less likely to be loud & run around.
Dennison would thrive in a home with people who work part-time hours, or someone who is home more often than not.
Furry Friends: Dennison was nervous during his dog assessment. He wanted to interact but the other dogs high energy was a lot for him to process. You could see the wheels in his head turning as he wanted to interact but was very unsure. Dennison would be fine to live with another dog, providing that the other dog was chill and not very energetic. Dennison would need a dog who is happy to co-exist & not dependent on playing all the time.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Dennison would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners.
Training & Development: Dennison would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Enlisting the help of a pro trainer would also help Dennison come out of his shell.
Dennison is still learning his name but he knows how to 'sit' & is also toilet trained. Dennison isn't overly food motivated but he will always take treats from you gently.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Dennison has low-range energy needs & would benefit from walking, play or exercise, from 20-30mins every other day to keep him fit & healthy. Dennison isn't interested in playing with toys, he prefers spending quality time with his handlers.
Dennison walks very well on a lead with no pulling. He enjoys leisurely walks. He is suitable to be walked on any walking apparatus.
Staff Comments: Dennison can be incredibly nervous at time but he is very sweet & affectionate. He would thrive in a serene and stable environment where he can feel safe and secure. He needs an experienced owner who understands his sensitivities and can provide the gentle guidance he requires. A calm household will help him build confidence and reduce anxiety. He loves nothing more than a good cuddle session.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
The adoption fee for dogs covers C3 vaccination, health check, heartworm testing, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
