Meet Crumbs ,
About: Crumbs is a lovable big boy who is best suited for experienced owners, particularly those with a background in shepherd breeds. He is adaptable to any household environment and would be an excellent choice for active individuals or families who enjoy spending time outdoors.
Despite his size, Crumbs is a gentle giant with a sensitive and agreeable nature. He can be a bit stubborn at times, which is typical of shepherds, but his happy and playful demeanour makes him a great dog to be around. Crumbs is affectionate and loves to engage with his humans, making him a wonderful choice for those who appreciate a loyal and loving dog. His alertness is a testament to his shepherd traits, ensuring he’s always aware of his surroundings.
Ideal Home: Crumbs is best suited to live in a standalone house or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large sized yard & high, secure fencing.
Crumbs doesn't need to be close to his family all the time, he would be content to be in the yard by himself most of the time - but time spent indoors would be nice for him so that he can feel like part of your family.
Family: Crumbs is open to meet children aged 8 years & up. This is because of his size & his playful nature. He may accidently knock smaller kids over.
Crumbs would thrive in a home with people who work part-time hours.
Furry Friends: Crumbs is best to be the only dog in the home. His dog assessment indicated that he not only did not get the required socialisation at a young age but he also doesn't want dog friends, either.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Crumbs would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners. However due to his size & playful nature, he may be too much for small animals.
Training & Development: Crumbs would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience.
Crumbs is still learning his name but he is very smart & knows commands like 'sit', 'shake', 'down' & 'crawl'. Crumbs is food motivated & will always take treats from you gently. Crumbs doesn't jump either.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Crumbs has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from walking, play or exercise, from 30-60mins per day to keep him happy & healthy. Crumbs loves to play with toys, especially soft toys & seems to enjoy playing with water too.
Crumbs walks well but he is very strong to walk. He is best walked on a martingale.
Staff Comments: Crumbs would thrive in an active household where he can enjoy plenty of exercise and outdoor adventures. He would do well with owners who understand the unique needs of shepherd breeds and can provide him with the training and socialisation he requires.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
