About Pete
Pete is a total romantic. He loves to love his humans. He wants to say hello to everyone he meets on his walk, saving a special cuddle and hug for a friendly neighbour who stops for a chat. This handsome black boy with his distinguished grey highlights gets lots of admiration and comments on his most curly ringtail.
At home, with his human family, Pete is all about the cuddles, whether that is with you on the couch or a sneaky wedge when you are trying to put on your shoes. He is an opportunist, never missing a chance for that passionate embrace. Pete loves visitors and will be a gracious and enthusiastic host.
On his walks, Pete walks well on lead. He likes 30 minutes twice a day, before and after his human goes to work. During the working day he snoozes for most of the day, happy to share the study with his foster brother, another male greyhound of a similar age. Pete would also be fine as an only dog so long as his humans are home more often than not.
Pete has adapted to living in a home well. He is toilet trained, eats well and doesn’t counter surf. He hasn’t had the chance to try stairs yet. Pete knows he can’t sleep on the human bed but is happy to sleep on his own bed in the study or the human bedroom.
Pete has been good meeting other greys on his walk and at the Gumtree Grey’s farmers market. He is still learning to chill when meeting new strange breeds. He is very curious but happy to walk on by.
Pete is enthusiastic in his play and gets excitable and bouncy when his human gets home or he has a visitor. He would not suit a home with very small children or frailer folk who may get knocked over during his zoomies. He loves his squeaky toys so will enjoy a well stocked toy box.
Pete loves the car and will happily jump in and out. He settles very quickly on his ride, happy to chill for the journey. He loves his excursions including visiting his human nanna.
Pete will suit a home that can appreciate this big loving goof.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, some can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour.
As a result we look to rehome dogs into households where they are not left on their own for more than 4 hours per day on a regular basis, without either people or another dog for company. We are happy discuss strategies such as a dog walker or doggy day care. Going to work with you is also a great option

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
