About Basil STA012346
Introducing Basil, a strikingly handsome black guy with a heart as big as his captivating eyes. Although Basil is initially shy and timid, he is a delightful fellow who will blossom in the right environment. With some patience, this stunning boy will let his true colours shine through, rewarding you with companionship that is worth the wait.
Basil thrives when given the time to acclimate and find his feet in new surroundings. He would greatly benefit from having a friendly, confident feline companion who can guide him and show him that humans offer kindness, security, and plenty of love. Once he feels comfortable, Basil’s affection and loyalty become evident. This gentle giant is highly food-motivated, which can be wonderfully advantageous when building trust and encouraging his friendly side to emerge.
If you have a welcoming home and a heart open to nurturing relationships, Basil might be the perfect addition to your family. His journey to comfort and confidence promises to be a rewarding adventure, and his presence will surely bring warmth and character to any household.
From his foster home -
Basil is a gentle boy who loves to be near his people/person but just not keen on being touched, which of course is likely to change once he is completely settled, and may take a little time. Some patience is required. Basil definitely likes to be close to people and enjoys rolling on his back on the floor/bed/couch (showing his cute belly) to show you he is comfortable and chirps when he is happily hanging out. Basil will be fine with a friendly cat to guide him but equally would be happy being a solo cat. Basil is extremely food motivated. I think Basil enjoys a pretty simple life and is content watching the birds from sunny spots. He will always follow us to bed (sometimes sleeping on the bed) but lately he has adopted a black backpack which he likes to sleep on at night and I think he has a great sense of cat humour as he blends in so well with a black backpack

Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
