About Southpaw
Meet Southpaw, a sweet and resilient 5-month-old male Border Collie mix with a heart full of potential. This clever little guy has come a long way since arriving at the shelter as a shy, nervous pup. Now, Southpaw is learning to embrace the big wide world with growing confidence and enthusiasm. He's eager to explore, learn new things, and make new friends along the way.
Southpaw would thrive in a home with older children (10+ years) who can provide him with the space he needs to adjust and bond in a calm and supportive environment. He is a sensitive soul, so a family that understands the importance of patience and gentle guidance will be ideal for helping him continue to build confidence.
Southpaw is a social pup who enjoys the company of other dogs and ideally would share his home with a canine companion who is equally kind and dog-friendly.
This sweet boy is looking for a dedicated and inclusive home where he can continue his journey of personal growth, training, and confidence building. If you're ready to invest in Southpaw's future and help him become the best dog he can be, he's ready to join your family and fill your heart with joy!
If you're looking for a loyal, eager-to-learn pup who will bring love and companionship into your life, Southpaw is the one for you. Come meet him today and see how far he's come - he's ready for his next chapter!
To book a meet and greet with Southpaw please phone 5441-2209 or email barcreception@bendigo.vic.gov.au . Due to the high volume of emails received, Inquiries with a request for a specific appointment with phone details included will receive a response as priority over generic applications which state they are interested in meeting an animal.

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
