Back story.
Marlo was purchased as a puppy, as a companion for a young woman before she went off to University full time.
Marlo was then left with the parents in a unit.
Sadly the parents could not give Marlo the training or the stimulus a deaf working dog breed needs so after 12 months Marlo was surrendered to CARMAR.
Since in CARMAR care Marlo has been desexed and Vacinations updated and has been recieving training that has been specifically designed for deaf dogs.
She thoroughly enjoys her new fur foster brothers and sister dogs and has been learning from them and from her foster carers who have been training Marlo with a pain free vibration collar which can be triggered remotely to vibrate gently to alert Marlo to look at her carers for commands.
She is also trained on short and long leash if her carers take her to areas without adequate fencing.
And wow! Marlo has come on leaps and bounds now that she understands how to learn from her carers and her surroundings.
Marlo is house, toilet and crate trained. She currently in foster care with dogs, cats, chickens,Guinea fowl, horses, alpacas. She is not fazed by them through a farm fence if they are just calmly going about their business-( but if the animals run then thats what Border collies do, round them up!).
She is only 12 months old so still has a lot of learning to do with regards to reading other dogs and animals body language.
She can get very excited and doesn't know when to stop play sometimes, so supervised play time is essential at this stage.
She walks well on a lead, she understands basic training and knows how to sit and lay down. Marlo is great with car travel.
She is food motivated which makes for easy training!
Marlo loves the attention she gets from her foster carers dogs and she craves cuddles and will gently nudge your hand for pats or stare at you with her gorgeous puppy dog eyes until you give in!
We would prefer if Marlo to be adopted into a home with an established dog, to learn from and feel safe with, pending a meet and greet.
She would also be suitable as a single dog household if the new owner was willing to be their for her 24/7 with ongoing training and stimulus to keep her working dog traits happy and healthy.
