Dugliz

Dugliz has come to SAFE because his owner is having to move overseas.

This beautiful senior dog has been with the same loving owner all his life, and is a real all-rounder. His owner described him as a low to medium energy dog that prefers being indoors or in the shade, with the exception being trips to the beach! He would do best in a quieter home.

He grew up with dogs and cats (although always supervised) and has lived with kids as well. Our foster carer says “He interacts beautifully with other dogs, of all sizes and nature (even the little growly ones), this has been clear at the dog park, dog beach and with friend's dogs in their home.”

“We have been to the dog beach today and visited friends on Friday with a swimming pool, it is very apparent that Dugliz has a love for water and children and when both are combined he is in his element. He was running and jumping into the pool with the kids and was gentle not to scratch them when swimming.”

Always the gentleman, Dugliz displays good manners in all situations. He does not jump up on people, is not destructive and has not damaged anything in the home or garden. He does not jump on furniture unless invited. He will, on occasion, put his front feet up on the bed or couch but if told ‘no’ he will listen immediately. If told ‘yes’ he’ll happily join you for a cuddle.

On lead, he does pull a little if there is something he wants to investigate, but is quick to correct if not allowed. He will sit before crossing with encouragement.

Dugliz loves to be with people and is happy sleeping on the floor near his carer when she is working, sitting on the couch, or asleep in bed. He also joins her in the garden and is happiest by her side.

As with many Shar Peis, Dugliz can be prone to allergies, but a grain free diet seems to keep all in control. One item his owner warned us of but that we’ve not yet witnessed in care is some resource guarding around bones or treats.
