PROFILE AND NEEDS IN A HOME
Every now and again you get a total unicorn of a dog in rescue, and that unicorn is Flower! Flower has been a truly incredible Mum to her 4 rambunctious puppies and is now ready for her forever home!
Flower is the embodiment of love and affection, it is insane the amount of love she can pack into her tiny 4kg frame!
Up for anything but her favourite place in the world is on the couch with humans, laying as close as possible for an all-consuming cuddle while watching TV. If she could absorb herself into your skin, she would do so without hesitation. Flower walks pretty well on a leash but alert.
She has not shown signs of separation anxiety when left alone for shorter periods of time and she will always give you the biggest possible smile when you return home.
Flower must go to a home where she has access inside and out at all times, permitted for cuddles and belly rubs on the lounge and sleep in the bedroom not necessarily on the bed, although we are sure she will worm her way onto your bed at some point even if it is just for morning cuddle time!
Flower’s other greatest love is food, so it’s important to keep an eye on her weight as she’s prone to getting a little too fluffy around the edges!
While Flower is tolerant of other dogs, she’s not a huge fan of sharing. Best suited as an only dog, or with an older dog who isn’t interested in playing and an owner who’s fluent in dog body language.
We believe that Flower has been the victim of confrontational training methods due to displaying a large number of appeasement behaviours.
She has become more confident over the past few months but can still get spooked by sudden movements, causing her to wee a little bit, so will need someone who is kind, gentle and considerate of her needs.
Flower has a bit of prey drive- she will skillfully hunt out the rat who made its way into a kitchen, is unrelenting against the local cockatoos (who as yet have not shown any fear), and is particularly disgusted by cats. As such, she’s best suited to a home without cats, pocket pets or birds.
Flower does have some minor resource guarding toward other dogs (not toward humans) as we believe her previous environment may not have been as secure as she would have benefited from. While this is something that needs a bit of work, it is something that has proven to be very easily managed with minimal effort.
Flower has been busy looking after her pups the last few months so her toilet training is still a bit of a work in progress. Her new home will need to be able to put in some work with this using only positive force free training methods. We are sure Flower will come along in leaps and bounds with one on one training. Advice can be given if needed.
Flower is a truly such a special girl who will surprise you with how quickly she fits into your heart. She will leave a Flower sized hole in the hearts of her foster carers when she finds her forever home.
If you would like to meet Flower please send us some information on yourself and the home you are able to provide including your dog and other pets (if any), family members, lifestyle, exercise, how often she would be alone, where she will have access in the home, where she would go if you went away and could not take her with you, ability to cover vet expenses and any other information you wish to provide.
Medical notes
As Flower has been feeding her pups she is not desexed as yet but will be desexed at our cost before she goes to her new home
