Beatrice or Bea as she has come to be known is a cheeky, loving, fun,
cuddly and smart girl. This boisterous young lady with lots of energy is
looking for a loving home where she can thrive. Beatrice loves nothing
more than following her humans around and is quick to flop onto her back
for some tummy rubs when she needs attention. Her love of chasing balls
is only equalled by her love of chewing them. When she isn't running
around, she can be found snoozing in the sun.
Beatrice came to us quite emaciated. When she was found as a stray she
had obviously had pups quite recently and she was in such a bad way
initially she stayed at the vet rather than going to the pound.
At present even though Beatrice is living with another dog she prefers
not to have visiting dogs and to keep her own space. Beatrice loves her
food and will resource guard against anyone trying to take it. She will
also take advantage of any food left around or a cupboard left open to
help herself. She has even been known to jump up onto the kitchen bench
if she smells something delicious. She walks well on a lead but gets
cranky if other dogs get into her personal space – we are working with
Beatrice on this and time and patience will make a world of difference.
Beatrice's new family would need to be committed to providing Bea with
loving guidance and training to work on her reactivity and resource
guarding behaviours.
Beatrice understands some basic commands such as sit, off and stop but
would benefit from some further obedience training. Beatrice is house
trained.
Beatrice would be best suited to a home with a family who can provide
her with enough exercise and mental stimulation to keep her energy
levels under control. She would be better in a home with more than one
person to reduce her resource guarding traits.
If you are looking for a sweet girl to adore then Beatrice is the one
for you!

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped,
wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals,
surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm
testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If
a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
