About Kya
Introducing the tiny, oh sweet and loving Kya
Kya is a 1 year and 1 month old Long Haired Mini Dachshund
Kya weighs approx 5kgs
Kya is an ex-breeding girl who came into care with a few others and is now retired. The rescue has ensured that Kya 's breeding days are over and her vet work is now up to date.
Since coming in to care Kya has experienced lots of firsts and it's truly heartwarming to see her begin to blossom.
As Kya didn’t have a lot of human socialisation until she came into care, she is wary of meeting new people - so anyone who meets her must give her time to adjust and come up to them in her own time.
Kya is looking for a quiet home with either kids over the age of 8 or she would happily live in a home with no kids - Kya can get anxious around small kids and struggles to settle, so the rescue is definitely asking for a quiet home she can relax and settle in.
Kya is now looking for her forever home - she would love a home where there is another small breed gentle dog who is happy to continue to show her the ropes and give her the confidence she needs to settle and continue to come out of her shell.
Her ideal home would be where she can be inside as much as she likes but still have access to outside for her lady business and sun baking. Kya would not cope as a dog expected to spend long periods outside.
Kya is still working on her toilet training and may have an accident or two when it rains - she is not a fan of getting her feet wet but with encouragement she improves.
Kya loves to sleep with a human - the content look on her face when she is snuggled up with someone is really honestly pure beauty and we would ask that any home she go to understand that she will need to continue that.
Kya has lived with a cat and had no real interest in her.
Once Kya is more comfortable, she will love a cuddle on the couch while you are watching TV or will help you out in the kitchen or laundry, basically she will be your tiny shadow!
Kya loves to go for a small walk daily. She loose lead walks beautifully but is nervous when other humans pass and does need time and understanding while she continues to gain her confidence.
Kya is a long haired Dachshund and as such will need to have her coat maintained and brushed.
Kya is looking for a calm house where she will be allowed the time to settle and her humans will continue to let her confidence grow - are you that home?

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 10 day trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $250) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
After the 10 day trial period is completed Paw Prints Canine will send out all relevant paperwork for your new furbaby via email including the transfer of microchip form.
