About Sam
Introducing the delightful Sam, a charming, gentle and clever 2-year-old Mini-Foxy/Jack Russell Terrier mix who's ready to bring joy to your home and heart.
Sam was very reluctantly surrendered to us by his devoted family through no fault of his own, but he has happily settled into his foster home, while he waits for his forever family to find him.
Sam’s foster mum calls him a “cutie pie” and if you read on, you’ll understand why. And don't forget to watch the videos.
Despite Sam's terrier lineage, he's surprisingly laid back and rarely barks, making him an ideal companion for both active families and those who prefer quiet cuddles on the couch. When our photographer visited his foster home recently, Sam gave one short bark when she knocked on the door and that was it.
Although a little tentative at first meeting, Sam soon warms up and once he does, he's a snuggle enthusiast who enjoys sitting on laps and leaning in close to make the most of cuddle time.
He's content in the company of his humans, whether you're enjoying a television show, pottering about in the garden, or unwinding with an afternoon snooze.
Sam is 10/10 house trained and well-versed in the use of a doggy door.
He enjoys playtime, especially rounds of fetch, but only at your instigation. He doesn’t demand attention, perhaps because his favourite toy is never too far from his side.
He is dog-friendly but, as always, we recommend appropriate screening of potential canine mates and supervised introductions. After all, at 9.5 kgs, he’ll rarely be the biggest dog at the dog park. He’s untested with cats.
Sam snoozes at intervals during the day and sleeps all night through, but prefers an elevated bed to a bed on the floor. He’s made himself very comfortable on his foster mum’s “doggie couch” and once the lights go out, she doesn’t hear a peep out of him until morning.
With his endearing personality and calm temperament, Sam would excel in a loving home where he’s regarded as an integral member of the family. He would make a delightful companion for adults of all ages.
We are specifically looking for a home where Sam has human company for the vast majority of the time - and Sam wouldn't say no to a compatible canine mate or two. He will form strong bonds with his family and will not thrive in isolation.
Medical notes
Sam has a mild underbite, which means his lower jaw protrudes slightly beyond his upper jaw. However, he has no difficulty eating, drinking or chewing bones.
