About 10777 - Shelby
⛲️🐚 MEET SHELBY 🐚⛲️
Nature
Shelby is a gorgeous grey tabby. She is young and playful, just a big kitten really - she loves games and playing. Shelby has a toy rat that she loves to throw in the air and gives it a right kicking, before she zooms off around the house.
Shelby is slowly growing in confidence. She is a full participant in the household; she seems to pop up all over the house just to see what you are up to. Shelby has a few special spots around the house she has claimed, if she is not in the kitchen demanding dinner, playing, or popping her head around a corner to see what you are doing, you will find her curled up in one of her safe place snoozing the day away.
Shelby was undomesticated when she first arrived into care. She has come a long way; she will sometimes still give you a little hiss if you startle her, but she is adapting to life with humans. Shelby is still getting used to accepting a pat, she cannot be picked up and for now and can only be patted while she is eating, and that generally results in her giving you the “stink eye”!
If you are looking for a lap cat, Shelby is not the cat for you, it may take months or even years for her to fully come out of her shell in a new home; but if it makes you happy to just see her happy and safe and let her be the cat she is, then she could be the one!
Companions (Children, Cats & Dogs)
Shelby gets on very well with other cats; she loves cat company. Shelby’s foster home has lots of cats, another friendly confident cat companion to keep her company is essential for her in her new home, with a slow introduction to each other of course.
Shelby has not met any dogs, the neighbour’s dogs bark loudly - Shelby is not too fussed about that. If your dog is calm and cat friendly, Shelby probably could live with them after a slow and steady introduction.
Shelby would be best suited to a mature quiet household with older children/teens and adults. She would do well in a home that is nice and quiet with a loving and mature family with no small children, please.
Likes / Dislikes
Shelby loves mealtimes, she will twirl around your legs in the magical hope that that will make you hurry up and get on with the delivery of her food. Shelby loves exploring the house, loves her toys and sleeping the day away; she likes to sleep on your bed and sit with you on the couch. Shelby loves her cat companions.
Shelby is not yet comfortable with being patted and you cannot pick her up. She needs patience and love to become part of your family.
My PURR-fect home would be one where you are home a lot, so we can spend time together to help me to continue to blossom into a beautiful cat. A comfy bed and food in my tummy, my very own loving home. A secure cat run would also be suitable for some fresh air but is not essential. I must have a cat friend, I wouldn’t suit being a solo cat.
Perth Rescue Angels recommends all cats are indoor only, unless they have access to a secure cat enclosure.
