Meet Bowie,
About: Bowie is an easy-going, fun-loving guy & is the perfect match for first-time owners and seasoned pet parents alike. No matter your household set-up, Bowie’s adaptable nature ensures he’ll fit right in.
Bowie’s personality is as vibrant as his name suggests. He’s gentle, friendly, and always up for some play time. Whether it’s a leisurely stroll, a hike through the great outdoors, or a day at the park, Bowie is your ultimate adventure dog. His outgoing, confident, and curious spirit will turn every outing into a fun experience.
But don’t be fooled — Bowie knows how to wind down too. He’s social and affectionate, always ready to shower his humans with love and snuggles after a day of excitement. With a heart as big as his zest for life, Bowie’s playful nature makes him the perfect addition to any family dynamic.
Ideal Home: Bowie is best suited to live in a standalone house or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large sized yard & high, secure fencing.
Bowie would thrive with access to the indoors, where he can enjoy quality time with his new family.
Family: Bowie is open to meet kids of any age & is fine to live with people who work part-time hours.
Furry Friends: Bowie is open to meet other dogs. During his dog assessment he had a loose body & wanted to interact, when he wasn't able to interact, he happily did his own thing & explored the environment. He happily exchanged play bows with the other dog but has typical puppy-like behaviour & moments of rough play. Until he is adopted our staff will be working with him on his social skills & manners.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Bowie would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners.
Training & Development: Bowie would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience & group classes so that he can extend on the dog social skills that he already has. Group classes will assist him in learning manners when it comes to playing with other dogs.
With additional training, Bowie could be the type of dog that you could take to a dog friendly café or social event. But, he will need more training in order to do this.
Bowie is still learning his name but he knows how to 'sit'. Bowie is very food motivated & will always take treats from your gently. Bowie may jump on occasion, but he is smart and is responding well to his training.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Bowie has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from walking, play or exercise, from 20-30mins per day to keep him happy & content. Bowie loves to play with rope toys.
Bowie walks well on a lead but can pull towards points of interest. He is fine to be walked on a collar & lead, or a harness.
Staff Comments: Bowie is very affectionate & will lay down with you - he is known to nuzzle his head into you for additional cuddles & snuggles. While he may be a playful puppy, he is also quite gentle. He may jump on occasion but is responding well to his training.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
