About Billie-Jean
Billie-Jean is a camp dog. The term "camp dog" in some regions in Australia, refers to mixed-breed dogs living in remote rural or small communities, often with no specific breed name. They are often a mix of the popular breeds. Camp dogs are special. They are hearty. They are loyal. They are robust. They are brave. But mostly they are grateful. They are grateful to be given a roof over their head, a soft bed, regular food, a warm touch and a place to call home - off the streets, with a family and away from the dangers of being unowned. Billie-Jean has all the personality traits of a camp dog with the markings of a cattle dog, terrier behaviours, a medium frame, a staffy face and the heart of a hound. Beyond her regular camp dog breed she comes with endless affection, she doesn’t lick, she doesn’t jump, she doesn’t resource guard and she doesn’t react to other dogs. She gets very excited about playing with other dogs, (big or small), she is gentle around food and she is toilet trained. She loves toys, wrestling, cuddling and adventures. She is unbothered by small kids or meeting new people. She has a beautiful nature and adapts easily to new environments. She has a very strong sense of smell, a keen appetite and she also lets you know if anyone is around your house. Billie-Jean isn’t perfect - she continues to learn every day how to be an owned dog. She is learning to walk well on a lead, she knows wait, sit, leave it and how to wait her turn. Sometimes she gets zoomies and struggles to slow down. She is new at this thing of being owned so she needs someone that is willing to continue to help her grow into her potential. I’m her foster mum so of course I’m biased - so beyond my bias is Billie-Jean who is unlike any dog I’ve had the privilege of knowing - she warms your heart and you will be forever changed just by meeting her.
