Falkor

Falkor is the definition of a gentle giant.

When he was taken off the streets and into care, he was in very rough shape. He was also terrified, and he completely shut down. He hid for weeks in a tiny hidey hole, looking sad and scared and absolutely pitiful.

He clearly had a family at some point, but was neglected and abandoned. When we tried to track them down through his microchip number, our requests were ignored. We have no idea how long he was on his own, but we know that it was an extremely rough time for him.

When he came to us, Falkor was covered in bites and injuries from other cats (this is why his tail is shaved in some photos). He also contracted FIV, which is common in tom cats who are forced to live rough. He was not desexed, so other males would have seen him as a threat, despite his incredibly passive nature.
He is desexed now, of course.

Slowly but surely, Falkor started coming out of his shell. Once he realised that he was safe and warm and had a steady source of food, he began to trust his foster carers enough to let them pat him. Then he started coming out and exploring his environment when they were around. Eventually he began actively seeking love and attention, and began to thrive.

Now we have the privilege of seeing Falkor for who he truly is: a big, friendly, smoochy boy who is simply gorgeous inside and out. He is sweet and laid back and perfectly behaved. We cannot imagine why or how anyone abandoned him, because he is truly the perfect, most wonderful cat.

Unfortunately, other cats still seem to like to pick on him. :(
Even friendly, laid-back cats start to bully him after a while, and Falkor never retaliates. He simply slinks off and hides again.
He does not have any desire to fight or retaliate.
The poor boy just wants to be loved.

We are looking for a family who will keep Falkor indoors. He lived on the streets too long and he deserves a safe, warm, enclosed environment. His colouration also makes him highly prone to skin cancer, so he needs protection from the harmful UV rays of the Australian sun.

Falkor is the most wonderful boy who will be the perfect addition to almost any home. He really likes other cats, but they seem to see his sweetness as a weakness. We'd love to find him a home with a cat who will be nice to him, but he adores people and would be great on his own. We also think Falkor would do well with a gentle pup, once he is given time to adjust.

Please consider opening your heart and home to this beautiful boy. He will bring you many years of gentle affection and sweet, silly smooches. He truly deserves all the love in the world.
