About Shiloh
Shiloh, Waggytail the Jack Russell
Shiloh turned 14 on 19/10. She looks younger, remains active and loves life. Shiloh has been desexed and vaccinated by Paws & Recover’s vet. Unfortunately her owner died before her, which is why she is looking for a home.
Shiloh is a white/tan Jack Russell. Her favourite thing’s to do are: sniffing her environment when out for relatively slow walkies, eating healthy food, spending time with humans of all ages, brief meetings with new dogs, the odd faster walk here and there, being included in every thing.
Shiloh isn't a lap dog, but likes very much to sit next to you on her lounge. She likes to know where her humans are, but also AOK in her own company. She does not have separation anxiety (She has been left alone for small periods by myself, and for longer periods by the pet sitter I’ve used regularly. On your departure she is accepting, will happily go to her bed, recognises the routine of me getting ready to depart. I don’t personally think she’s a dog to be left alone all day, as like all Jack’s, she thrives on company, mental stimulation, walkies for sniffing)
Shiloh does not bark indoors, or at noises per say. She does become alert to the noises of possums, birds, humans etc (so a normal doggie) She is capable of barking but we’re talking a couple of times in a week, or in greeting you.
Shiloh likes to come to the front door when delivery drivers arrive, the postie comes to the door etc. She does not bark at them, but 100% if I opened the door wide, she would be out and down the stairs to the building front door to head off on a walk. Shiloh is not under any circumstances to be off lead outside of her home; has Jack Russell selective hearing. She will eventually come when called but no way would I allow her to wander off lead.
Shiloh quite likes meeting other dog’s. She’s self-confident, assertive, engaging, frisky, depending upon the other dog. As well as being generally friendly she is very JRT in that she’ll end the meeting, relatively quickly, and go back to sniffing at a time of her choosing, (display the indifference those of us know in JRT’s). Shiloh is not a submissive dog; very capable of standing her ground when much, much larger dog’s race up to say Hello. I have seen her reactive to one dog; they were on our property here (front landing of block of flats) so being territorial.
Shiloh displays no aggression to dog’s or humans, but can be jealous of other dog’s receiving attention.
If you are able to give this grand old lady a safe place to see out her senior years, you will not be dissapointed
Medical notes
Supplements
Like most dog’s her age, Shiloh has arthritis. I treat that with Antinol as I believe she’d not do well with NSAID’s. The Antinol is woofed up in her breakast. She is completely happy with walking and zooming about the place.
Melatonin, for sleep settling. I try to keep her active as much as I can during the day, so she will sleep well. Melatonin may or may not be required, depending on her daily activity with her new human/family.
Adoption details
Animals are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and on heartworm prevention / and also FIV tested for cats where possible. They are not available for adoption outside NSW (except ACT). Please email adoptpar@gmail.com if you would like further information.
Dogs and cats are rehomed on two weeks trial to ensure that both the person adopting them and the rescuer are satisfied that the dog / cat / animal is happy and adapting well to their new home and this can be extended on request
Please be aware that Paws and Recover is run by volunteers who also work. We endeavour to answer enquires as quickly as possible. Some animals will inevitably be very popular and will generate many enquires. Where there is a high volume of enquires received, it will be our priority to contact those that best fit the requirements of the animal. This may mean that it is not possible for all enquires to be answered. Please keep an eye on the website for all updates.
Providing quality information as a part of your enquiry including information about your home environment, family, work hours, other pets and what you are looking for in a companion animal along with what you can offer one will greatly assist.
Please always provide a contact phone number as a part of your enquiry.
