About Anson Lozano
TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION PLEASE SEND IN APPLICATION FORM AVAILABLE BELOW:
https://www.victoriandogrescue.org.au/adopt/
Anson is a delightful little poppet on the lookout for his new family.
Snuggly and friendly with people large and small, Anson loves his soft
toys and is currently working out his opinion about chasing balls. This
smart little guy is reliably housetrained and has a range of basic
commands down pat, although he could do with polishing his skills in
returning when called. Anson is crate-trained and sleeps well through
the night in his carers' room. Around the house, he is happy keeping
himself busy with his toys and spending time with his people. He is
generally relaxed at home although occasionally takes offence to
unexpected neighbourhood sounds. In care, Anson has been left inside for
a few hours from time to time and seems okay with this once he
understands his people are coming back.
Out and about, Anson walks well on lead. His response to other dogs can
be a bit inconsistent, with occasional barking and pulling towards
passing pups. He would benefit from some further reassurance and
rewards-based training on lead so he can overcome the uncertainties
fuelling these reactions.
Anson is healthy but currently a bit itchy and needs a couple of medications to keep his skin and eyes in tip top condition. These are pretty easy to administer - we are happy to explain to prospective adopters.
Anson is a happy and adaptable chap who is likely to do well in a range
of households where he has love, cuddles, toys, regular walks and the
company of his people. He can manage apartment living as long as he has
regular exercise and opportunities to toilet outdoors. He will cope
being left alone at home for a few hours from time to time with inside
access. We are not yet sure whether he would live happily with another
dog. Anson's carers have observed him being a bit twitchy around cats,
so he will do best in a moggy-free home. If handsome Anson sounds like
the dog for you, he would love you to make an adoption application.
Please note: our dogs are not available for interstate adoption. We also do not adopt to people under the age of 25 years.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped,
wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals,
surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm
testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If
a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions. Weight: 5.6 kg. Cavoodle.
Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

Please note that we do not take/make telephone calls prior to receiving an application.
Commonly asked questions and their answers are provided when you email us. Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
We look forward to receiving your application.
