About Nanook - 2 Year Old Jack Russell Terrier (Trial)
Say hello to Nanook, who’s unusual name means “polar bear”, one who is, revered for his strength, wisdom, loyalty and connection to the natural environment.. Sounds like he’d be big and protective, right? Yet Nanook is a small lean boy, at 2 years & 7 months of age who moves with abundant agility a lot of the time.
Nanook is bouncing with joy like a pup whether it’s walk or play time or food time. Maybe like the polar bear of his name he has a tendency to eat ravenously as if storing up for the harsh winter. Not surprising since he had to survive in the bush alone until recently. Being so lean at 5.5kgs and vibrant he burns up his food easily with his playful activity and curiosity.
His sweet affectionate nature is another endearing aspect to him. He’s ready for cuddles whenever you are ready. He’ll often fall asleep on your lap with contentment. He has boundless love and affection besides vitality.
With his intelligence and wish to please, to stay with his forever family will help with further obedience training so you can both enjoy wonderful companionship. Just have a little patience and consistency to guide him initially.
Being quite young Nanook is learning toilet training very well and using a doggy door. He walks lively with curiosity on a lead, can be a bit timid with new dogs to greet or noisy young children. Once back home he’ll then nap for a while before keeping you sweet company. He ideally would have someone at home most of the time or a calm doggy companion with which to share a safe yard or house. He is not tested with cats. Wary of water, as from a hose.
- Needs someone who will gently introduce him to new experiences.
- Thrives on routine and is quick to learn
- Benefit from patience for further training
- Has company much of the time
