About Dorothy & Lorelei
Hi! We're Dorothy & Lorelei and we are looking for a new family to call our own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR DOROTHY & LORELEI
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/pW4iPW8GMPFPQba96
NOTE: You are unable to meet Dorothy & Lorelei until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Dorothy & Lorelei in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What we need in my new home:
• Regular walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• A cat would be ok with a slow introduction.
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• A family who promise to keep me well groomed and brush me regularly so we are always looking and feeling my best
• Lots of love and attention
• A quiet & mature family/household - We are both still coming around to all kinds of people.
• We can be shy at first so we need a family who’ll allow us to grow in confidence in my our time
• We have never interacted with another dog (other than each other) before coming into the shelter but we have spent time with other doggy friends at the shelter and we are happy to hang out with them, so another dog in the home should be ok with us.
• A family that will love and care for us during our twilight years
• SOCIALISATION is super important for us as it appears we have led a very sheltered life and can be nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter we are becoming much braver though. Taking us to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence.
Things that we don’t want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• Small children due to being mouthy & bouncy
• No young children as we can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and little ones will accidently scare us. Older mature children who will be involved with our training should be ok.
Our best features:
• Highly food motivated
• Gentle & placid
• We have had some basic obedience training and am a generally well-mannered dog
• We love attention and having snuggles with my humans (once we get to know you)
• We love attention, hugs, kisses & head scratches (once we trust you)
• Love to snooze on the couch
• We walk well on lead for inexperienced doggos but having daily walks should help us improve our lead skills
• We love toys especially our ball, playing fetch and tug rope - We love to play with toys by ourselves, but are reluctant to play with you just yet.
Where We need to improve / Training required
• We will require full basic training as we have had no training experience yet
• We love food & toys so using them as a positive reward should make ourtraining easier.
• We appear to be quiet vocal at times when left alone - a family who has a lot of time for us, allows us indoors and leave us with lots of mental enrichment when home alone is recommended
• We am extremely timid in new situations such as entering a building/home. We MUST have a family who'll allow me inside so We can see it isn't a scary place and to allow my confidence to grow.
• We can be shy and try to avoid things going over our heads (lead etc). It doesn't take long for us warm up.
• As we have not been allowed inside before we are not housetrained yet
