About Geegee
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Geegee
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender
BREED: Jack Russell x Chihuahua
BREED TRAITS: Jack Russells are lively, independent and clever. They are trainable but have a mind of their own and if bored can dig and chew. Terriers are devoted to their people, affectionate and love being with them so cannot be left for long periods. . Careful and sensitive socialisation from a young age is a must as they are small dogs with big personalities.
Chihuahuas love to be with their people and are definitely companion dogs that do not like to be left alone, They are sensitive, and can be aloof or wary of strangers and other dogs so early socialisation is very important. Chihuahuas cannot tolerate cold or hot weather so a warm coat in the winter and care re overheating in the summer is needed - they are not outside dogs. They are bright and willful but will learn if you make it fun and although small, have big personalities.
*************************************************************************
ASSETS: A little timid initially, and can appear aloof, particularly with women, but once she gains confidence and knows she can trust you, she’s affectionate, eager to please, active, playful and very sweet! You just need to be patient and give her time.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Geegee loves to play with her stuffed toys (she likes to shake them!) and get out and about for car rides. She also enjoys playing with the other dogs in her foster home and loves cuddles on the couch!
ENDEARING FEATURES: She has big, beautiful eyes and is very loyal to her people.
OTHER ANIMALS: Geegee gets on well with other dogs and enjoys playing with them. She won’t be suited to a home with cats or small animals as she will chase and has the terrier prey drive.
GENERAL INFO: Having missed out on early foundation work, Geegee will need some training in her new home to learn the basic commands, but she does appear to have good recall – her lead work is in progress. She will bark at unknown noises and when someone is at the door. She would benefit greatly from structured training classes and would love the interaction with other dogs. She hasn’t shown any destructive behaviour since being in foster care and is housetrained. She is quite a high energy little girl so she will need good exercise and mental activity to use up that energy.
She will need a home that is gentle and kind as she is new to everything and will take a little time to settle.
ESSENTIALS for Geegee:
** A loving, active, calm home with someone who can be with her for a good part of the day or can take her with them when they go out.
** She will need daily exercise, playtime and mental activity. A home that is willing to involve her in daily activities is essential for her as she loves to be right where you are.
** Geegee needs a fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things to sniff and explore.
** Geegee needs to be allowed inside the home when you are there and to sleep inside at night.
** Geegee would benefit greatly from dog training classes to grow her confidence and expose her to new experiences and environments.
Geegee could live with dog-savvy, gentle children over 12yrs of age who understand she needs time to settle and know when she needs her own space. She would enjoy living with another friendly dog or at the very least would love to have regular interaction with other friendly dogs.
If Geegee sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we’ll be in touch soon.
