About Minnie
Not available for interstate adoption apart from the ACT provided you are able to drive to meet Minnie
Minnie must be rehomed with another small dog (or two) who is a friendly, playful, robust and well-adjusted dog
PROFILE AND NEEDS IN A HOME
Minnie is titchy tiny weighing only 3.5kgs
Minnie came from a home where she did not get much socialisation with people and little or no socialisation in the world outside home.
Due to Minnie's previous environment, she can be timid when first meeting new people and in new environments. However, given just a bit of time and some chicken:) She has shown that she is able to adapt, and her loving and affectionate side starts to come through. Minnie requires someone who is kind and calm and who will take it slow in getting to know her, build trust and create a safe environment for her.
Minnie is currently in care with two smaller dogs, who have been showing her the ropes on how to live in a home environment and giving her confidence when she is outside of the home.
She is happiest with another dog to follow and cuddle up with, and finds comfort in her furry friends, becoming more confident when her two foster siblings are around. As such Minnie must be rehomed with another small to small/medium dog who is a friendly, playful, robust and well-adjusted dog. Her new fur sibling must be up for playing silly dog games.
She is still unsure about children so a home with younger children would not be suitable for her. A home with children over the age of 14 maybe ok, provided they were kind and gentle with animals and understand and respect her initial need for personal space.
Minnie has not shown anxiety when her foster carers leave her alone with their dogs for short periods of time of up to 4 hours, so would be ok being left for shorter periods of time once settled
Minnie is still only a youngster and has boundless energy. As such needs a reasonably active home where she will get out for at least two decent walks a day. Minnie loves running around the park at full speed and meeting new dogs.
Minnie is still cautious in crowded and busy areas, she appreciates a cuddle to boost her confidence. Quieter areas are best to start with, and it is very important to make sure she is not overwhelmed in these situations, paying careful attention to her body language to ensure that she continues to have positive interactions in the world outside of the home and improve her confidence in the outside world as the days and weeks go by.
At night, she is perfectly content on the lounge with her foster carer and loves snuggling in bed. Therefore, a household where she has full access indoors and permits her to sleep in the bedroom at night would be the best fit.
In short, Minnie isn't just searching for a house; she is in search of a home filled with love, joy, companionship from dogs that will respect her initial need for personal space, giving her the time she needs to settle in.
If you think you could offer her just that, Minnie is ready to shower you with affection in return in time.
