Gorgeous Xena is 11 months old and has found herself in need of a new home. Xena’s life has been turned upside down due to no fault of her own, she recently found herself staying with family on a rural property, but after taking an interest in the local livestock, she once again needed to be moved. Xena is now in kennels, but desperately needs someone to give her a loving forever home.
Xena is a friendly, happy go-lucky girl that adores everyone she meets, at times she can’t contain her excitement to say hello and will jump up enthusiastically; with treats on offer and when asked to sit, this is very manageable, and she is a good girl.
Xena has been around children of varying ages, she may be a little boisterous for small children and would accidentally knock them over, she could be ok living with large dog savvy children over the age of 5.
Xena is a water baby that just loves to splash and play in her water bowl, pool… you name it! These gorgeous goofball loves getting wet and would enjoy adventures to local lakes and rivers, or even the beach to get her water fix!
Xena hasn’t had much training, she knows her basics but needs reminding of them at times, she pulls hard on the lead as she hasn’t been walked in quite some time. Xena loves treats and is a clever girl that picks up on things quickly, she would thrive with daily training sessions so that she can use her quick mind and improve her focus and impulse control.
Xena is looking for an active home that has experience with boisterous large breed dogs, she has been living in a tennis court completely isolated outside for the last few months and will need someone patient and confident to help reintegrate her back into a normal routine, she will need boundaries, training and clear feedback so that she can learn what is expected of her.
Xena has always lived with another dog and has been able to interact with other dogs once appropriately introduced to them. Xena is quite reactive when she first sees another dog, she is unsure and frustrated and will let everyone know about it by barking, lunging and growling, once given the time to calm down and be slowly introduced, she gets along well with other dogs and really enjoys their company.
Xena would love a doggy brother in her new home, a calm dog that she can learn from would be most suitable, someone willing to play and be her friend, she could also be ok as the only dog in her new home if someone is home more often. Xena is not suited to a home with small animals or livestock, she must have secure fencing to ensure she cannot go visiting neighbouring properties.
This gorgeous goofy girl is such a sweetheart that has been let down by her people with her lack of training and socialisation to the outside world, what she lacks in exposure, she makes up for in affection and loyalty, even our vets describe her as the friendliest, happiest girl that just wants to give kisses to everyone.
Xena is desperate for a forever home, the kennels are booked out for Christmas and once again she has nowhere to go, and no family to love her. If you can open up your heart and home to this friendly water baby, please complete an adoption application via our website, or email rescue@gsrv.com.au if you are already on our waiting list.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
Mature (1 year to 6 years) - $600
Senior (7 years plus) - $350
