Kids (8yrs+)
Calm & quiet home
Inside only
Meet Cheeky,
Cheeky by name, cheeky by nature. She's a feline full of personality and pizzazz. Cheeky is an independent, intelligent, and utterly charming girl who knows exactly what she wants - and most of the time, it's treats and attention! She may be a little shy when you first meet her, as she flirts with the idea of coming out to meet you, but a couple of treats break down any reservations she has. Treats make her happy, she'll purr with content & fluff up her tail with excitement.
Cheeky is social, friendly, and curious, always ready to explore her surroundings and keep tabs on what you’re up to. She's chatty, too, so expect a running commentary on all your activities. However, she's no pushover. When she needs some alone time, she'll let you know. If you're looking for a cat who’s equal parts sweet and sassy, Cheeky might be your perfect match.
Cheeky is best to live in a household that is calm & quiet as she is sensitive to noise.
Cheeky is best suited to live with kids from 8 years & up as she sometimes likes to have her space & be able to do her own thing. Kids who understand this would be a great match for her.
Cheeky is not a fan of being picked up, wanting all for paws on the ground. But she likes head pats & ear scratches, but her one rule is no belly rubs - that is her sacred space.
Unfortunately, we cannot test if Cheeky would be suitable to live with dogs. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Cheeky seemed curious to meet other cats in the cattery, but didn't make any attempt to be-friend them. If she were to live with a high energy cat who craves the attention of her, we don't think it would be a good match. But we can see Cheeky living with another cat whose personality matches her own.
We always encourage cats to be indoor cats. Cheeky will be a little too sensitive for outside living. Plus, if she is outside, it will increase her chances of running away, getting lost, injured, or worse. As an inside only cat she can be safe & sound & live her best life.
Cheeky has low energy levels. We don't see her playing with toys, but she does enjoy watching them be thrown & rolled around. Wand toys are super exciting, as she follows their movements, but is yet to actually make a move on them...
Cheeky is not fussy with her food either & she also always uses her litter tray without any issues.
Staff Comments: Cheeky is a very sweet, yet independent, cat. She's not a push-over, but she's not a mean cat either. She's just a girl that likes to do her own thing, she'll come to you for pats & cuddles, but she'll happily be content having some alone time too.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
