About Baxter
Baxter is a quiet, sweet and gentle Kelpie X. He is always ready for a cuddle and loves squeaky toys, antlers and playing fetch. He is a little shadow who loves to be wherever you are!
He is very intelligent and polite with other dogs, he loves to play chase with his foster brother Shaggy, and knows to give his foster sister Daphne space (although she has grown fond of him) - He has not shown any aggression or reactivity. He has also been very polite when meeting other dogs. I can tell he is going to love running and playing with them.
He has come a long way in the short time since he was saved from pound life and has settled amazingly despite being in a home for the first time. He sleeps peacefully through the night in his crate.
He is not child tested (however I strongly think he will be fine)
He is aware of my rabbits but hasn't met them face to face - However I had a fledgling bird in my garden the other day and he just laid there and watched it/did some little barks. He didn't try to hurt it.
-He’s almost fully toilet trained (about 90%), but there are still occasional accidents, especially on beds.
-He can be a bit anxious when left alone (he’s managed to escape a metal Kmart crate a few times), though an airline crate works better for him. He’s been traveling with us recently, so it’s less of an issue, but a sturdy crate is still ideal if he needs to be crated.
-He’s quite the escape artist and can easily clear a baby gate without hesitation! 😊
-He tends to take his time when entering or exiting doors—it’s important to let him go at his own pace. The same goes for walks; sometimes, he simply decides he’s not ready to go.
-He can be a little shy or nervous around loud noises or barking dogs. He’s never shown aggression; he’s more likely to run and find a quiet spot.
-When it comes to meal times, I keep the dogs separated, or he’ll try to sneak everyone’s food.
-He does experience a bit of "toy FOMO," but my other dogs generally don’t mind if he grabs their toys. Just something to be aware of.
