Special Needs: Jeremy had a very short racing career but at the age of 2yrs had a ‘tie-back’ surgery which opened his airways. This resulted in him needing to be on grassy pasture 24/7 and not kept in dusty or dirt yards. He can sometimes have a cough and nasal discharge, but since being kept on grass the last 9 months it hasn’t affected him at all.
Adoption Fee: $1,100 this is to help cover the many costs associated with rehabilitating our horses
Jeremy is a young thoroughbred who absolutely adores his human companions, he loves to be doted on, walked, brushed and bathed. Jeremy retired from his very short racing career at the age of 3 when he was picked up by a young lady who fell in love with him at the stables. She re-trained Jeremy to being a great trail horse and he will go anywhere and do anything. She decided to surrender Jeremy to the sanctuary as she lived in the city and could only find agistment that had dirt and dusty yards which kept flaring up his tie-back symptoms. She made the heartbreaking decision to surrender him as she knew it was in his best interests and since living in our grassy paddocks the last 9 months he now shows little to no symptoms at all.
He’s fantastic to float and settles quickly into the ride when out and about. He is still considered a ‘green’ trained horse as he has mostly only done trail riding and limited in the arena/groundwork so his leg aids etc could use some work. He has all the basics down though and I have never felt unsafe riding him. He can get excited when asked to transition from trot to canter and does a small hop, we believe this is because he needs help learning to balance himself in that transition, he has never tried to bolt.
Jeremy currently is ridden mostly bareback with a rope halter or bitless bridle, but has been ridden with a bit in the past no problem. He LOVES LOVES LOVES water! He is a total water baby who will splash and play in the dam all day, he happily takes his rider into water for a swim.
He has amazing hooves for a thoroughbred, he has never needed shoes or even boots when out, he is very hoof sound and has remained barefoot for many years.
Jeremy can be a bit pushy on the ground if you have treats, he will quite literally climb into your pockets to get them, so he could do with some work around patience and giving people space. Otherwise he has shown no negative behavior at all. He also has a huge willingness to learn, he went to a weekend clinic with one of our volunteers and was one of the best behaved horses there! He’s very clever and truly wants to get stuck into everything.
Jeremy would best suit a horse knowledgeable home as he is still a young thoroughbred who needs guidance and direction. In the right hands we believe he will become an incredible horse to someone looking to go out and have many adventures and learn new things together.
Preference will be given to applicants who live close by so Jeremy doesn’t have to travel a long distance, transport can also be arranged through Elysian Fields Sanctuary if required.
If you think you can offer Jeremy the perfect forever home, please complete an application, we would love to hear from you! Jeremy deserves only the best and we simply adore him, whoever ends up with this guy will be so very lucky!

Adoption details
After rehabilitation a profile is created of the animal to help find them the perfect match. Applicants can apply via my website using the application form. A house inspection (can be virtual) is required and then a visit can be arranged. If all goes well a two week trial in their new home begins, after completion of the two weeks the adoption will be finalised.
