About Darla
Darla is a very dear little dog who is described by her foster carer as the perfect all-rounder. She is a placid dog who is very quiet at home and happy to chill. Darla has a really delightful personality as she seeks out human affection and is very cuddly. In the evenings, she is right there besides her people on the couch to watch TV. Her stunning chocolate colouring and matching brown eyes just suck you in. Darla is one that will make you fall head over heels in love with her.
This beautiful girl comes from a breeding background and has come to us to retire from that life. It is now Darla’s turn to be loved on and taken out to explore the world. She is eager to go on her walks and enjoys a good daily stroll. She will very quickly jump into the car to accompany you on a trip as well as she wants to be involved in your life. Darla is looking for a life where she is included in the daily activities. She does well out and about considering she has not previously been exposed to a lot, but sudden loud noises do give her a bit of fright. Darla recovers well in these situations; however, we feel she would suit suburbia or quieter areas rather than inner city living.
While in care, Darla has been sharing her home with two resident dogs whom she coexists with easily. She is dog social and happy in the company of other dogs, but not really interested in playing or interacting much with others. She is able to live as an only dog or with another doggie friend who has a similar placid temperament. Regardless, Darla will need a home with someone who is home more often than not as she gets true pleasure from human companionship. In saying that, her new owner should have previous dog experience and understand that she needs to be treated like a dog and not a baby. Darla should be given routine and structure in her life as these things give her comfort and make her the easy going dog that she is.
While in foster care, Darla is sleeping in a separate room from the people and with the other dogs. She sleeps throughout the night in her crate without an issue. Darla still needs an owner who will leave her at home for short periods of time and ensure she doesn’t become overly attached to them. She is fantastic around the house as she is toilet trained, quiet and non-destructive. In fact, she doesn’t even know how to play with toys so you may like to teach her over time. Darla is a good eater so you may need to monitor that she doesn’t stack on the kilos; however, she is not food obsessed and doesn’t really work for food. She has basic manners, except for a few seconds of jumping when excited, but no real official obedience training behind her. Darla is just an easy dog to have around.
Darla is best suited to a quieter adult only home. She has met some young kids and was ok with them, but we would prefer no resident children in the home or for any children to be older (teenagers). Darla has not been exposed to other types of pets, but her beautiful nature indicates that with supervised and controlled introductions she may be ok. This lovely dog is a true little gem who is bound to bring a lot of love and sweetness into her new owner’s life.

It hasn't been that long since Darla weaned her last litter so she cannot be desexed just yet. Her new owner will need to pay a $250 bond on top of the adoption fee and be willing to take Darla to one of our vets (or your vet may be an option if discussed with us upfront in the initial interview) during the trial period to be desexed. The bond will then be refunded.
Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
