About Zac

This is Zac, a handsome 18-month-old German Shepherd that has found himself in the pound due to no fault of his own. Zac isn’t enjoying life at all in the pound, and due to him ultimately being surrendered, his time is now up, the pound has to make room for more incoming dogs, we either take Zac in through rescue or…. well, you know the other option.
Zac has lived a very sheltered life on a property without much interaction with the outside world, despite this, he is very sweet and warms up quickly to humans. Zac is a shy, gentle boy that just wants to be loved and feel safe, once he trusts you, he leans into your legs for more pats, he is learning that humans are kind and that they are a source of fun and love.
We don’t have any history of Zac with children, right now in the pound he hasn’t been mouthing and only jumps up during playtime, we can only judge him on this. Zac may be ok living with dog savvy children that can be respectful of his space, he would need close supervision.
Zac is overwhelmed in the noisy pound, having never met other dogs and having plenty of space to being surrounded by dogs barking constantly is a shock to Zac’s system, he is feeling very stressed in this environment. Zac will need an understanding and patient owner that will help him decompress and introduce him to the outside world, for now Zac should avoid busy areas that may trigger him.
Zac loves to play; he adores fetch and will bring the ball back to your feet ready for you to throw it again. Zac’s entire demeanour changes when it is playtime in the yard at the pound, he lights up and the stressed dog that couldn’t settle then transforms to a dog in his element, engaging with humans and having a good time. Zac would love an active family that have a decent sized yard, playing is the way to his heart.
Zac is also food motivated and is a quick learner, he enjoys training sessions and can be lured into his basic commands, he would thrive with regular training sessions to learn further skills and to stimulate his clever mind. Zac pulls on lead and will react at other dogs; he needs a new family that are dedicated to his ongoing training and socialisation.
Zac is inexperienced with other dogs and currently finds dog interactions overwhelming. Zac will bark and lunge when dogs get close, letting everyone know how unsure he is. Given some time to calm down, Zac has been able to sniff the back end of a very calm dog that ignored him, we know he is just frightened. Zac will need to work up to interacting with other dogs overtime, he needs gradual, positive exposure to help build his confidence. For now, Zac needs to be the only dog in his new home.
Zac has not been tested with cats or other small pets.
Poor Zac is living in every dog’s nightmare, alone and scared out of his mind. This sweetheart just wants to be a normal dog that has a loving family who will play with him and give him lots of pats and attention. Zac deserves better than the cards he has been dealt, he needs someone to give him a second chance and a ‘happy ever after.’

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
