About Mickey
Mickey would like the following in his new home:
- A playful desexed adult dog companion or his people home often.
- A family that will continue his training so he grows to be a well mannered dog.
- A family that are looking for a best mate.
- A family that wants a dog do be with them and do things with them when they are home.
- To be allowed inside when his owners are home and to sleep inside of a night.
- A fully secure fenced yard.
- People home often.
Mickey will take time to feel comfortable in a new home. He will need space and time to bond with each person in the home, he is likely to bond with one person quickly, but will need time, space and patience to bond with others. Once a bond has been formed with everyone he is very loyal to all. Mickey is unsure around visitors to the house and it's best for visitors not to approach him until he comes to them ready for a pat.
Mickey is looking for a human best friend to spend his days with. He likes to be with you whatever you do. He is content to go on a walk each day and sniff around in the garden and will be happy with a chew toy in the backyard if you go out for a while. He will need to be with his humans most of the time when they are home and sleep inside. He gets along well with his foster dog brother and meets and greets other dogs on walks politely. He doesn't pull on the lead and will trot along beside you staring up at you with his big doggy grin. At the dog park he will play with other dogs but sticks around his pack and his recall is excellent.
He's great with kids. He can be a little wary of new men coming into the house but with a few dog treats he’s everyone’s best friend. Those he likes might get a stray lick or two. He is learning not to jump but life is just so exciting. His favourite activities are anything his humans are doing, chewing his toys and sleeping. He's living with cats and chickens. He does try to play with the cat but is easily redirected. He likes to be as close to you as possible – this means sneaking on the bed at night and sitting on top of you on the couch.
Mickey is fully toilet trained. He loves his food and is easy to train. He knows how to ‘sit’, wait for his food, ‘come’ and ‘stay’. When he’s excited he’s learnt to ‘get a toy’ from his toy box rather than jumping. He travels well in the car. He’s still a puppy so does like to chew – keep your shoes up high and the kid’s soft toys away. Mickey is the easiest best friend you've ever had!

Please note- we do not work on a first in best dressed basis, we assess all applications to choose the home that we believe will best match the animal.
If you believe one of our animals would be a good match for your home please send us a detailed email us with some information about the people and any other animals in your home as well as the type of lifestyle you can offer a new rescue pet.
We are volunteerswho run the rescue around families, paid employment and other commitments so your patience is appreciated.
We do require you to travel to meet the animal you are looking to adopt. For dog adoptions, any other dogs in your home musr attend the meet and greet, this enables us to assess their compatibility and helps prevent them being returned and creating more confusion/insecurities for the foster animal.
We reserve the right to refuse the adoption if we don't believe it's a good match for our animals.
All our animals are available for a two week trial with full refund. They are also covered by a lifetime return policy. If you ever find yourself unable to care for or keep your pet please contact us and they will come back into our care or we will assist you in finding them a suitable new home, this is a condition thst you agree to when signing our Adoption Agreement.
