About Zara
Hi, my name is Zara, and I am a Silver Dapple Miniature Dachshund, and I am 1 year and 3 months old
I currently weigh 5.8kgs
I came into care and have had all my vet work completed and now ready to find my furever home.
Now I currently live in a home with some other dashies and my foster mum and dad.
My foster dad is my favorite person and i would love a dad who would love me to spend my days following him around, snoozing on the couch or bed with him and just being loved on.
Now don’t get me wrong I love my foster mum as well, but if my foster dad is home, i will dump mum in a hot minute and check on what my dad is doing - so the rescue is really hoping that my new dad is out there just waiting for me!
When I came into care I was pretty nervous for the first few days and it took me a bit to settle but with the help of the other dashies at the home and my patience foster parents I have learnt to play inside and outside, wrestle a bit with my foster siblings and enjoying the food that I get offered.
My foster mum has spent the last couple of weeks trying to get my photo for my adoption profile and she has said that I am camera shy and will turn at the last minute before the camera goes off.......... ooops...............
So i would love a home with a mum and dad, kids are really optional and happy to not be with them. A home with another dashie or small breed who will let me snuggle with them........
I do enjoying having a small play outside with the other dogs and whilst we have a fenced backyard my recall can sometimes be lacking ......... but my foster mum says a bit more practice and I’ll get the hang of it.
My foster mum also has a couple of dogs and I love to hang out with them, interact with them, and just be a dog. I currently have options of sleeping in the lounge room with another dog or I can sleep on the bed happily - Not going to lie if I really have an option of where I want to sleep the bed with you will always win.
I also love thru the day snoozing in comfy spots - dog beds, couches, out on the back deck sunbaking etc etc.
If you are home being a work from home, stay home, retired, shift worker etc I will happily keep you company - following you around and supervising with my long nose when you do anything!
I also love a good a good lap to snuggle on and love to stare into your eyes while you pat me.
I can be nervous when meeting new people so I do need a few minutes just to settle and get used them, but the rescue thinks as time goes by in my forever home that will lessen as I will be confident and settled.
I am still learning my toilet training.
I absolutely love food so if your foodie we could bond!
I am happy to go in the car with you and love to just be with my humans………
My foster mum says I’m a lovely little girl who is loving, friendly and eager to please!

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 10 day trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $250) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
After the 10 day trial period is completed Paw Prints Canine will send out all relevant paperwork for your new furbaby via email including the transfer of microchip form.
