Meet Snoopy,
About: Snoopy is a friendly & happy young boy. He's very gentle with an outgoing personality. He is suitable for first time owners. Snoopy is young, so he is excited to make friends & meet new people. He is very social & loves to play & is very affectionate - he is always down for some quality time spent with his handlers, he loves to cuddle & loves to be patted.
Snoopy is best suited to a calm & quiet home, despite his young age & excitable ways, he prefers are more relaxed home-life. Staff have noted that he's a chill dog when in his kennel, he likes to take naps & is usually a very quiet dog. Snoopy would also be a great addition to active families as he loves to go for walks & socialise.
Ideal Home: Snoopy is best suited to live in a standalone house or a farm/acerage, with a large yard & high, secure fencing.
Snoopy would adore the opportunity to spend time in doors with his new family.
Family: Snoopy is open to meet kids of any age - kids should be dog savvy due to his puppy-like play style.
Snoopy is also suitable to live with people who work full-time hours.
Furry Friends: Snoopy is open to meet other dogs. During his dog assessment Snoopy was fine to be walked past all the dogs, as soon as he noticed the other dog from afar he was offering play bows. There were exchanged sniffs, loose body & big tail wags. He just needs to learn some manners as he likes to use his paws to touch & interact which can be too much for less playful dogs. He needs a little more socialisation to correct his manners, but he is very social with other dogs.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Snoopy would go living with cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners.
Training & Development: Snoopy would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience, and group classes to learn manners & to develop the dog social skills that he already has. Loose leash walking should be implemented into his training regime.
With additional training, Snoopy could be the type of dog that you could take to a dog friendly café, or social event.
Snoopy is still learning his name, but he knows commands such as 'sit' & 'down'. Snoopy is food motivated, and when he takes treats from you, he does so gently. Snoopy may jump on occasion, but only when he is excited/meeting you for the first time.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Snoopy has mid-range energy, and would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-30mins a day to keep him happy & content. Snoopy isn't too interested in toys, he prefers human interaction & personal play with his handlers.
Snoopy walks well, with minimal pulling, but he does tend to zig zag & spin from excitement. He is fine to be walked with a collar & lead or on a harness for additional control.
Staff Comments: Snoopy is a very goofy boy, some would call him dull, but he's just happy about this crazy thing we call life. He was burst of puppy energy, he loves to play & run & interact with his handlers. He is the master of play bows, always offering them to both people & dogs.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
