About Cello
Meet Cello!
A total love bug!
Cello lived a fairly happy, free life in rural NSW with his feline companion, until one day, his family moved and left him abandoned. A kind neighbour started feeding him, but life outdoors on an empty property soon took a turn for the worse. Cello's cat friend disappeared - we don't know what happened, but we know it was nothing good.
Alone, Cello continued to survive. He was attacked by a fox, and survived. Then he was taken to the local pound. A small outdated facility, Cello lived in a dog enclosure - no cat facilities at this tiny pound. He was in desperate need of help.
He arrived in our care purring, but with eyes that tell a story of sadness and hurt, and a body that bears the scars of a very difficult life. His ear is battle scarred and bent, his body scarred and muscular. Cello has had to fight hard every day, just to survive. Those days are over.
Cello is FIV positive, but is otherwise in good health.
In foster care has discovered how good it is to be loved and safe again 💛 and now he is a total love bug and purr machine. He would suit a range of homes.

Medical notes
Cello is FIV+, this means his immune system is not as robust as in an FIV negative cat. However, there is now a lot of research and studies that show FIV+ cats can live long, healthy lives just like FIV negative cats, if they receive a high quality diet and routine veterinary care, and live an indoor lifestyle to prevent exposure to harmful parasites and infectious diseases.
FIV negative and positive cats can live together with minimal risk of transmission of FIV. FIV is only transferred via deep bite wounds, not through behaviours such as mutual grooming or through fomites, as the virus can not survive outside the infected cat's body for any length of time.
One of the main concerns with FIV+ cats are dental. Like any cat, regular dental checks are important to ensure their wellbeing.
One of Cello's ears is out of shape, most likely from being attacked by a fox. This does not affect his hearing and he is perfectly fine. It just makes him unique and gives him character.
