About Polly
Ode to Polly, the Tortoiseshell Queen
Polly, the queen of her tortoiseshell throne,
A coat of white and amber tones.
Six years and eight months, a seasoned delight,
A loving companion, both timid and bright.
A scratch 'neath her chin, her heart you'll unlock,
She'll purr like a river, steady and soft.
Gravy meals are her absolute bliss,
A saucy indulgence she'll never dismiss.
As moonlight dances and shadows play,
She zooms through the night, her own ballet.
But when the morning sun stretches its beam,
She naps in its glow, lost in a dream.
Four paws firmly planted on earthly ground,
No lifting for Polly; she'll loudly expound.
She'll sit by your side, independent, serene,
Your quiet companion, your loyal queen.
No rivals allowed in her cherished domain,
She rules her realm, both tender and plain.
Older kids, calm and patient, she'll find,
Are the best for her sensitive, thoughtful mind.
When focus falters and drifts from her face,
She'll sit on your laptop, reclaiming her place.
A sunlit window, her perfect retreat,
Inside the home where her world feels complete.
Polly, a treasure, unique and refined,
A cat like no other, one of a kind.
With love in her heart and her gaze ever true,
She's waiting for someone as special as you.
To book a meet and greet with Polly please phone 5441-2209 or email barcreception@bendigo.vic.gov.au . Due to the high volume of emails received, enquiries with a request for a specific appointment with phone details included will receive a response as priority over generic applications which state they are interested in meeting an animal.

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
