About Tanto
Meet Tanto, the goofball with a heart of gold who's on the lookout for a family to match his joyful energy! This lovable guy has been in care with another shelter for over 400 days, but now that he's joined us at BARC, we're giving him a fresh start. From the moment he walked through our doors, Tanto settled in effortlessly, joining our staff and another pooch on a bush walk, and becoming a member of one of BARC's doggy play groups.
Tanto thrives on adventure and play, and he's thoroughly enjoying his new toys, from balls and squeakers to ropes for tug-of-war. He's a fetch fanatic and will sprint across the yard to grab a thrown ball, often bringing it back for round two, three, and beyond! When he's not busy playing with his new human and furry friends, Tanto can often be found cooling off in his shell pool. There's nothing he loves more than splashing around, paws paddling, and letting loose in the water. With his expressive, soulful eyes that can melt even the toughest hearts, Tanto has a way of pulling the biggest puppy eyes when he's hoping for a treat or his next meal.
Though Tanto's previous shelter family did a fantastic job teaching him the basics, he's still open to learning even more with his forever family. Tanto knows how to sit, shake, drop, and wait politely for his food, though he might try to tell you otherwise if he thinks it'll score him an extra treat! This clever boy is food-motivated and always ready to please, which makes him a great candidate for ongoing training.
Tanto is looking for a family that shares his enthusiasm for life. He'd do best with a household that appreciates his playful energy. Kids in the home would be a bonus-Tanto would love to share his joy with children who are comfortable around a big, bouncy boy with a lot of love to give. He's a natural playmate and is eager to have someone who won't mind his enthusiasm! Tanto has not met acts before and we recommend he go to a home without cats.
If you're searching for a dog who will fill your days with laughter, joy, and endless energy, Tanto is ready to meet you! Stop by BARC to meet this incredible boy who's already won us over with his big heart and goofy charm-he just might be the perfect addition to your family!

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
