About Poppy
Poppy’s name suits her well – the poppy flower is associated with Remembrance Day as a symbol of hope for a peaceful future – and this little girl is hoping to find a new family that she can share a peaceful and happy future with.
This beautiful little girl comes from a background of breeding, and it is now her turn enjoy retirement from that life and the spoils that come from living with a family of her very own. She is a very sweet little dog who doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. Poppy loves her people and is a wonderful companion to have around. She loves to get cuddles and attention from her foster carers and will return the love straight back to you. Poppy will follow you around the house and yard, but will also happily chill out at home on her bed and enjoys popping outside to lie in the Sun. She has a very laid back nature at home and is super easy to have around.
While in foster care, Poppy has been living with another small friendly dog. She is dog social and enjoys meeting other dogs when out on her walks. Poppy doesn’t really know what toys are but does enjoy chasing a ball. She does the cutest little pirouettes in excitement when you get her lead out for walkies time. Poppy is a low energy dog; however, she will still need someone to take her on a nice walk each day at her own pace as it brings her a lot of enjoyment and is good for her health.
Poppy has good manners around the home and is toilet trained. She prefers to sleep curled up in her own comfy bed at night but will never say no to a quick cuddle with you on the bed in the morning to ensure your day starts off right. Poppy knows the basics of walking on a lead, sit and stay. She travels well in the car and would be happy to accompany you. Poppy can be a bit overwhelmed in new busy places or by loud noises, but she will just stand and wait for things to pass instead of stressing out over it. She would be best suited to a quieter lifestyle with a basic routine that revolves around her family.
Upon arrival into care, we completed a health check-up for her and dental. Poppy was reviewed by an orthopaedic surgeon as she has slightly abnormally structured hind legs, but the good news is that this does not bother her and does not require any medical intervention. She would benefit from being on some joint supplements going forward as a preventative and keeping up her muscle with her daily walks. As with any Cavalier, she does shed fur and will require regularly grooming to keep her looking her best.
We are looking for a dog savvy home for Poppy where she will be given all of the love that she deserves. She would do well in a home with another small friendly dog as a companion but would also be fine to live as an only dog. Regardless, it would be great if her owners were around more often than not to provide the companionship she enjoys. Poppy is kid friendly but would do best in an adult household that will provide her with that quieter lifestyle. This gorgeous girl is going to make a wonderful addition for someone looking for a new companion to brighten their life.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
