About Wish
Meet Wish – A Sweet, Brave Soul Ready for a Calm and Loving Home
Wish is an 8-year-old Mini American Shepherd who is simply adorable—a gorgeous little lady with a heart full of potential. Though she came into care with limited exposure to the world, Wish has proven to be a brave and determined soul. She’s worked through her initial hesitations and is now thriving in foster care, where she’s learning and adapting at her own pace. With a gentle, calm nature and a love for routine, Wish is looking for the perfect home to help her continue blossoming in a relaxed, loving environment.
Wish is a laid-back, curious little dog with a heart of gold. She’s not overly social or outgoing, but she has plenty of affection to offer once she’s comfortable. Her idea of a good day is a short stroll of about 1km—her daily walk is a non-negotiable part of her routine! After that, she’s content to settle by your feet, keeping you company as she potters around the house and checks in on what you’re up to. She loves human affection, but she’ll take her time to trust and build that bond.
Wish is naturally curious and likes to explore her surroundings at her own pace. While she enjoys discovering new things, she’s easily startled by loud noises and busy environments, so a calm, predictable home will help her feel secure. Once she gets to know you and feels safe, she’ll happily settle in for cuddle time and enjoy the simple pleasures of being by your side.
Ideal Home: Wish is looking for a calm, adult-only home with people who have some experience with dogs and can continue to guide her gently through life. She would do best in a quiet, low-stress environment where she can take things at her own pace. Wish isn’t the type of dog who thrives in busy, loud settings—she’s more of a homebody who prefers peace and stability. A serene household, with no children and a gentle, predictable routine, would be the best fit for her.
Wish is not suited to apartment living. While she is content to potter around inside the house, she needs the space and security of a home with a secure garden where she can enjoy some outdoor time and feel comfortable. A garden where she can explore, relax, and enjoy her strolls will be ideal for her.
Energy Level: While Wish enjoys her daily walk, she’s not a high-energy dog. A 1km stroll each day is enough to satisfy her exercise needs. She’s more interested in the joys of a calm, cozy home environment where she can relax and quietly observe life around her. After her walk, she’s perfectly happy to curl up and spend the rest of her day being your sweet, gentle companion.
Good with Children: Wish would be happiest in a home without children. Her sensitive nature and love for a calm, predictable environment mean she’s not suited for a household with young or busy kids. A quiet, adult-only home would be the best fit for her.
Good with Other Pets: Wish currently shares her foster home with another small Mini American Shepherd, and they get along beautifully! She could definitely continue to live with a calm, friendly dog who shares her easy-going temperament. She’s also been living with a cat and has shown no interest in her feline housemate, so she may do well in a home with cats too. Wish enjoys the company of other pets, but her main priority is maintaining a relaxed, peaceful atmosphere.
Health: Wish came into care needing a bit of attention to her coat, so she has been shaved for now. Once her beautiful coat grows back, she’ll require regular brushing to keep her looking her best. She’s currently on a strict diet to help her shed a few extra kilos (currently 19kg and goal is 15kg) and is making great progress. Wish also has a heart murmur, but at this time it does not require treatment. There’s a possibility that she may need medication in the future, so an adopter with an understanding of her health needs would be ideal.
Wish is a sweet, sensitive girl who’s looking for a peaceful home where she can enjoy her golden years. If you’re a gentle, experienced dog owner who understands the importance of patience and providing a calm, structured environment, Wish could be the perfect companion for you. She may not be the most outgoing dog, but she has so much love to give, and her quiet companionship will bring a sense of calm and joy to the right family.
Wish is looking for a home with a secure garden and a loving, patient family who can offer her the quiet life she deserves. Could you be the calm and loving home Wish has been waiting for?

We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
