About Solo
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Solo
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance as a private surrender
BREED: Jack Russell x Chihuahua
BREED TRAITS: Jack Russells are lively, independent and clever. They are trainable but have a mind of their own and if bored can dig and chew. Terriers are devoted to their people, affectionate and love being with them so cannot be left for long periods. . Careful and sensitive socialisation from a young age is a must as they are small dogs with big personalities.
Chihuahuas love to be with their people and are definitely companion dogs that do not like to be left alone, They are sensitive, and can be aloof or wary of strangers and other dogs so early socialisation is very important. Chihuahuas cannot tolerate cold or hot weather so a warm coat in the winter and care re overheating in the summer is needed - they are not outside dogs. They are bright and willful but will learn if you make it fun and although small, have big personalities.
*************************************************************************
ASSETS: Affectionate, devoted, eager to please, friendly, sensitive, active and very sweet! He can be a little reserved with new people initially but once he’s comfortable around you he’s an absolute darling.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Solo is a very devoted boy and loves to be wherever you are while you’re going about your day. He loves to go out for a ride in the car, enjoys playing with the other dogs in his foster home and is in perpetual motion when he’s awake. He’s also very affectionate and will happily snuggle up with you for a snooze. He was recently desexed and behaved perfectly at the vet.
ENDEARING FEATURES: He’s a very well-behaved boy with lovely manners who will be a perfect companion for his new owner.
OTHER ANIMALS: Solo gets on well with other dogs and could live with another friendly dog in his new home. He appears to be fine around cats and has bumped noses with the cat in his foster home, he then backed off and was uninterested.
GENERAL INFO: Solo is still learning how to walk on the lead so will need some training in his new home. He is now settled and fully housetrained. He will bark when he hears strange noises and is not destructive if left alone for a time. His command training is a work in progress which will need to be continued in his new home.
ESSENTIALS for Solo:
** A loving, active home with someone who can be with him for a good part of the day or can take him with them when they go out. Not for full time workers unless he goes to work with you.
** He will need daily exercise, playtime and mental activity. A home that is willing to involve him in daily activities is essential for him as he loves to be right where you are.
**Solo would benefit greatly from classes where he can relax around people and learn new things – he wants to be your best boy.
** Solo needs a fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things to sniff and explore.
** Solo needs to be allowed inside the home when you are there and to sleep inside at night.
Solo could live with dog-savvy, gentle children over 12 who will be able to read his signals and engage with him on a daily basis – calm and gentle interactions are best for him so that he isn’t overwhelmed. He would enjoy living with another dog or at the very least would like to have regular interaction with other friendly dogs.
If Solo sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we’ll be in touch soon.
