About Reyna - 5 Year Old Border Collie X Kelpie
Meet Reyna – Your New Adventure Buddy and Best Friend!
If you’re searching for a loyal companion with a heart as big as her zoomies, look no further than Reyna! She’s a 5-year-old Border Collie x Kelpie mix who’s ready to join a family that will give her all the love, attention, and adventure she deserves. Reyna is sweet and affectionate, and she’s the kind of dog who will make your day brighter with every wag of her tail.
A key requirement of Reyna’s furever home, will be another dog - preferably male of similar breed - to match her play style which is typical of a working breed dog (herding, bitey face, energetic!) and teach her some “Dog 101” skills which she has sadly missed out on in her previous life. . Unfortunately, applications which don’t meet this criteria will not be considered. A meet and greet will be the final determination for suitability.
Reyna is not your typical barky, destructive dog. In fact, she’s pretty chill – she rarely barks, and she’s not a chewer or escape artist (though we can’t promise she won’t get zoomies every now and then). She loves car rides, and she’s always down for a sniff-filled walk, although she’s still working on not pulling too hard on the leash (she’s getting better every day!).
Reyna is a smart girl who already knows some basic commands, including sit, stay, bed, and a-ah (her version of “no”). She also has great recall around the house and responds well to cues, even when the cat is in the room! Her eagerness to please and quick learning make her a joy to work with, and she’s always ready to show off her skills for a treat or a cuddle.
While Reyna’s had a rough past, she’s a resilient girl who’s learning how to trust people again. She thrives when she’s included in your daily activities and gets plenty of love and mental stimulation. She’s still working through a few things like shadow-chasing and pacing, and is on some medication to help her, but with patience and consistent care, Reyna is a dog who will flourish in the right home. We also feel this is another reason why Reyna needs a dog companion.
Reyna is food-motivated (who isn’t?), but she does require high-quality nutrition due to the neglect she faced in her previous life. She’s a happy, playful girl, and her joyful nature is contagious!
Reyna must sleep inside every night, as she loves being close to her humans and this is a comfort she wasn’t granted in her previous life. While she prefers her own bed (don’t worry, she won’t try to steal yours!), she’s perfectly content settling down on the lounge or anywhere within range of you. Reyna is a fantastic sleeper—she’s calm and quiet all night, never stirring or needing to go outside until morning. She’ll happily stay put and let you get a good night’s rest too!
Although Reyna is friendly with cats and generally a great companion for other dogs, she’d prefer a male dog companion of a similar breed (someone who can match her energy and show her the ropes of “dog life”). But don’t worry—she’s open to meeting new friends and is currently living with a Ridgeback x and a Kelpie x.
Reyna is house-trained and can be trusted indoors while you’re away at work, but she would prefer a home where someone’s around more often than not. She’s fairly terrified of storms, so she’ll need a family who can comfort her during those thunderous moments. She’d love to curl up next to you and feel safe when the skies get loud.
While Reyna’s not the best fit for homes with young children under 10 (she can be a bit jumpy and mouthy when excited), she would be the perfect addition to an active, loving family who’s ready to give her the attention, care, and companionship she craves.
If you’re looking for a sweet, curious, and loyal dog to be your partner in crime, Reyna can’t wait to meet you. She’s ready to fill your life with joy, laughter, and plenty of tail wags!
Reyna is desexed, microchipped and up to date with flea and worm treatments. Adoption fee is $450. She is in foster care in Cardiff, NSW.
