About Shiloh
Requirements:
Experienced owners - breed
Must meet all family members
Kids (any age)
Best as only dog
Meet Shiloh,
About: Shiloh is an agreeable, friendly & happy girl. She is smart & shows us that she is eager to learn. Shiloh is best suited with an owner who has experience with her breed. She is an excitable & playful dog, who is affectionate & sweet. She loves to cuddle up to her handlers & be near them. Shiloh can be alert at times, which is a typical trait for her breed & we have it on good authority that she is also a little bit lazy...!
Shiloh was very stressed when she first came into us, and she wasn't in the best condition either. She has settled a lot since then, but some changes to her environment stir up those stress-reactions, so she will need an understanding owner who will allow her to decompress. She has the ability to de-stress & settle as long as she is given the time to do so.
Shiloh is best to live in a calm & quiet household as she is a gentle girl. But having said this, she would be a great dog for active people as she loves adventure & is a lovely dog to take for walks.
Ideal Home: Shiloh is best suited to live in a standalone house or a farm/acerage, with a large yard & high, secure fencing.
Shiloh is the kind of dog that could spend most of her time indoors without any fuss, but when her family is home she would love the opportunity to be inside with them.
Family: Shiloh is open to meet kids of any age - just be mindful of her size as she is a large dog.
Shiloh is also suitable to live with people who work part-time or full-time hours.
Furry Friends: Shiloh is best to be the only dog in the home. Her dog assessment wasn't bad, but she did stress a little when she saw the other dog. We allowed her time to settle, and it went well after that, but we feel that she will need time to settle into her new home/routine first before being exposed to other dogs.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Shiloh would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Shiloh would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. She will also need time to settle into a new home, new environment & new routine. Shiloh loves routine!
Shiloh knows her name, she also knows commands such as 'sit' & loose leash walking. Shiloh is food motivated, and when she takes treats from you, she does so gently. Having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea. Shiloh may jump when she is excited, but she is very gentle when she does this.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Shiloh has mid-range energy, and would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 30-60mins a day to keep her content & healthy. Shiloh isn't too interested in toys, she prefers human interaction & personal play with her handlers.
Shiloh walks well on a lead with minimal pulling - she also knows loose leash walking. She is fine to be walked on a collar & lead or harness (she responds well to a sneaky treat on her walks too...)
Staff Comments: Shiloh is such a sweet girl who is just thriving each day. She's a typical shepherd & loves to be close to her human friends.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
The adoption fee for dogs covers C3 vaccination, health check, heartworm testing, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
