About Audie
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Audie
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance from the pound
BREED: Jack Russell x Chihuahua
BREED TRAITS: Jack Russells are lively, independent and clever. They are trainable but have a mind of their own and if bored can dig and chew. Terriers are devoted to their people, affectionate and love being with them so cannot be left for long periods. Careful and sensitive socialisation from a young age is a must as they are small dogs with big personalities.
Chihuahuas love to be with their people and are definitely companion dogs that do not like to be left alone, They are sensitive, and can be aloof or wary of strangers and other dogs so early socialisation is very important. Chihuahuas cannot tolerate cold or hot weather so a warm coat in the winter and care re overheating in the summer is needed - they are not outside dogs. They are bright and willful but will learn if you make it fun and although small, have big personalities.
**************************************************************************
ASSETS: Easy going, affectionate, devoted, eager to please, friendly, active, playful and very sweet! She can be a little timid around new people initially, but once she’s comfortable around you she’s an absolute darling.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Audie loves to be wherever you are and will follow you around the house while you go about your day. She enjoys spending time at the beach and loves to do zoomies on the sand. She’s very affectionate and will happily snuggle up with you for a snooze. She has recently been camping with her foster carer and behaved impeccably at the caravan park.
ENDEARING FEATURES: She loves a cuddle! She’s always happy to see you and adores being the centre of your world.
OTHER ANIMALS: Audie gets on well with other dogs and could live with another friendly dog in her new home. She’s also fine around cats and other small animals, after supervised introductions.
GENERAL INFO: Audie walks well on the lead and is housetrained. She will bark when someone is at the door but stops quickly when instructed to. She hasn’t shown any signs of being destructive in her foster home and her command training is a work in progress which will need to be continued in her new home.
ESSENTIALS for Audie:
** A loving, active home with someone who can be with her for a good part of the day or can take her with them when they go out. She currently has 2 walks a day.
** She will need daily exercise, playtime and mental activity. A home that is willing to involve her in daily activities is essential for her as she loves to be right where you are.
** Audie needs a fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things to sniff and explore.
** Audie needs to be allowed inside the home when you are there and to sleep inside at night.
Audie could live with dog-savvy, gentle children over 10 years of age who will be able to read her signals and engage with her on a daily basis. She would enjoy living with another dog or at the very least would like to have regular interaction with other friendly dogs.
If Audie sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we’ll be in touch soon.
