About Shelly
***** To apply for Shelly please visit www.animalrescue.org.au and complete the Adoption Enquiry Form *****
This is our beautiful Shelly. Shelly was extremely shy and scared when she first came into care but quickly settled in and has now shown off her gorgeous personality.
Shelly is fun and playful and will make you laugh more than you would expect. She loves running and curling up in your lap after giving you a quick kiss on the chin as well as chasing flies like a miniature ninja.
At first we thought Shelly would be best suited to a home without kids as initially she was very shy and standoffish with her foster carer's own children. However, within a few days she was deeply bonded with them and adores their attention and playing with them.
Shelly is also in care with 2 other small, young dogs and she gets along very well with them and happily runs around playing in the yard with them. The only thing to upset her is if there is a chance that someone will take more than their fair share of the food.
Shelly gives the best reception when you arrive back home, showering you with her love, bum wiggles and excited circle dances.
Shelly is mostly toilet trained unless she gets super excited. She is also using a doggy door and is happy to navigate stairs.
She will bark at passing pedestrians and is still skittish when outside and out of her safe space. This will definitely improve with time, love and patience.
Shelly will make an excellent companion to someone who is home more often than not. Please keep in mind that Shelly is only 1 year old so is not suited to elderly people.
Shelly's ideal home is:
* Has someone home a lot
* Fenced backyard for playing and runing around
* Must sleep inside and have access to inside/outside during the day preferably
* Would love another small playful dog for company
Shelly is not tested with cats, but could potentially live with cats given the right introduction.
