About Nugget
🌟 Nugget 🌟
HOUSEHOLD- Introducing Nugget! This tough looking little dude will require a dog experienced home to help him be the best he can be. He appears suitable to live indoors or out but would love to be included in as many family activities as he can be. It is unclear if he is toilet trained yet or not but he is teachable. He would best suit a more mature home due to his aire of confidence in certain situations but we will test further with children and feel that dog savvy children 13yrs + should be suitable.
ON-GOING TRAINING- Nugget loves toys and finds them much more motivating than food. Tennis balls are a particular favourite and training sessions will need to be kept short and sweet to keep him motivated rather than frustrated. He can sit on command but is yet to know more so he will need further work on basic obedience and lead manners.
PLAY/TOYS- LOVES TOYS!! They are a great source of motivation for him and a great source of fun. He is happy to play by himself or with a handler but doesn’t always like to share showing a potential for toy possession but no further concerning behaviours have been seen yet and staff are respectful of him when he takes his toys to his bed to finish the game. If left to his own devices he enjoys shredding stuffed toys and taking the squeaky insides out so a toy box may be required to make them last longer.
OTHER DOGS- Nugget is keen to meet other dogs and approaches with his own self confidence. He can be abit pushy but has shown no concerning behaviours on lead or face to face. He appears suitable to live with a canine companion and will require a meet and greet to make sure they get along well.
While he has shown himself to be dog social at the facility we unfortunately cannot test for group dog settings such as a visit to the dog parks, beaches etc. If you were hoping to visit these places we would recommend postponing your trip till around 3mths post adoption until he has had time to settle in, build a bond with his new family and feel comfortable with his recall commands.
CATS/OTHER ANIMALS- Nugget is yet to be tested with our cats at the facility but this profile will be updated as soon as this has happened.
CARE/NUTRITION- Nugget is currently being fed on an adult diet twice daily. He has shown no food sensitivities but prefers to graze or walk away looking for something better to do.
He appears to maintain his weight well and has a lovely short coat but will need regular grooming due to the potential double coat influence from the French Bulldog side of his breeding. He is not overly comfortable with excess handling and will need a patient owner to build a positive association with a care routine.
EXERCISE/ON LEAD- Greatly enjoys his walks but has no idea of lead manners. Pulls towards what he wants when he wants and can be quite strong. He does have a sensitive neck and would be best on a chest harness to minimise damage. He will appreciate 1-2walks daily and being allowed to sniff and explore on a long line so he feels free and independent.
BREED- DOB 17/3/2022 English Staffy X
