Meet Eva,
About: Eva is a gentle, friendly & happy girl. She is smart & shows us that she is eager to learn more. Eva is best suited with an owner who has experience with dog ownership. She is an affectionate girl, who loves a cuddle & to engage with her human friends. Eva has a lovely soft side, as well as a playful, excited and adventurous side.
Eva is best to live in a calm & quiet household as she is sensitive to loud noises.
Ideal Home: Eva is adaptable and could live in a unit, townhouse, standalone house or a farm/acerage. As long as the yard has high fencing & is secure. If living in a unit/apartment, her walking regime would need to be considered to ensure that she receives adequate exercise.
Eva is the kind of dog that could spend most of her time indoors without an issue. But equally fine to be outside too.
Family: Eva is open to meet kids from 10 years & up. Reason for this is because Eva may be boisterous when playing. She may mouth during play time & older kids will be able to understand this behaviour more.
Eva is suitable for people who work part-time hours.
Furry Friends: Eva is dog selective. During her dog assessment she was a little disinterested and avoidant, but became relaxed and was fine to interact, sniff & exchange play bows. She often checked in with her handler. She would be fine to be around other dogs, but living with them we feel that Eva would prefer to be the only dog in the home.
As we cannot test, we are unsure how Eva would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Eva would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Eva would also do well with environmental socialisation so that new environments aren't too much for her to handle.
Eva is still learning her name but she does know how to 'sit' & 'down'. Eva is not overly food motivated, but when she does take treats she will always take them gently from you. Having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea. Eva may get excited & jump when she is excited, but she is very gentle when she does this.
With further training & environmental socialisation Eva could be the type of dog that you could take to a dog friendly café or social setting.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Eva has mid-range energy levels, and would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 20-60mins a day to keep her content & healthy. Eva loves toys, especially tennis balls - she loves to chase them!
Eva walks well on lead with only pulling (minimally) when she is excited. She is fine to be walked on either a martingale or harness.
Staff Comments: Eva is a very sweet & affectionate girl. She is known to have two distinct side: one being very calm, demure & mindful. The other being very playful, funny & dramatic.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
