About Mason
Please meet Mason, a charming miniature short-haired Dachshund with a personality as delightful as his unique dappled coat.
Born 12 September 2024, Mason is currently thriving in his foster home, which he shares happily with an array of cats and dogs. His foster mum affectionately describes him as "laid-back and sweet," capturing the essence of this endearing little dog.
Mason is a wonderful embodiment of the classic Dachshund characteristics. He has a social nature and a love for snuggling. He's happiest when spending time with his humans, whether it's joining them in everyday activities or simply curling up under a blanket with them. Mason's loyalty and devotion will make him a fantastic pet for an individual or family.
Despite their small size, Dachshunds are known for their vigilant and lively demeanor. They can have a large voice, making them excellent watchdogs. They may be aloof with strangers.
Originally bred as independent hunters of badgers, foxes, stoats, rabbits and rats, it's no surprise that they are typically bold and brave, with a dash of stubbornness.
Given his size and demeanor, Mason is ideally suited to smaller dwellings. However, he will require abundant mental stimulation and physical activity, so engaging playtime and regular walks are essential to keep him content and healthy.
As with many Dachshunds, he will not cope with lengthy periods of isolation and is definitely not suited to solitary life in the backyard. Mason is a dog that needs to be with his people and/or a canine buddy almost all the time.
If you're looking for a snuggly companion who will keep you on your toes with his lively personality and dedicated companionship, Mason is the perfect pup to add to your home.
He is part way through his vaccination schedule and is offered for rehoming now on the condition he is desexed at our expense (subject to T&Cs) when age appropriate.
IMPORTANT: If you are interested in applying for Mason, PLEASE COMPLETE THE ONLINE APPLICATION FORM at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ and include photos of your yard and fencing. Thank you.
